The first one, with the milligrams, he had marked wrong but I came up with the same answer. Not sure why it got marked wrong.

Did you read the way RunningGirl did? I can easily see that happening.

Unless there is a typo with the first one (like, "use digits to write that number of grams"), I don't see what is wrong either.

A milligram is one one/thousandth of a gram. marlynnp multiplied the number given times .001 and - voila!

But the instructions in the op said to write it in milligrams, not grams.

And 45,454,500 times .001 is 45,454.5

DS & I both read it the same as RunningGirl did. That's a good lesson in reading the question more carefully.

Yup - voila the wrong answer. The question asked for the number in MILLIGRAMS (I do know the math between a gram and a milligram).

I did suggest a possible typo in the question, but as written, it is milligrams.
