Does anyone have a good website link that says what food you can and cannot take into America?

I have done a bit of searching but all the sites I seem to find are a bit vague with the answer.

Wonder if any UK tourist has been fined? I know they are always confiscating things but I think/hop ethats as far as it goes. Once took my Mum with us, Xmas trip. Sniffer dog came around and sat down by Mum, she had a roast beef sarnie in her bag, the lady just asked her to throw it in the bin.

A friend of a friend was found with a tin of ravioli or spag bol something along those lines and was fined $500. They worked for a airline though so not sure if they were just trying to make an example of them?
