We've been eager to do Victoria & Albert's Chef's Table again after having had that almost nine years ago. It is a magnificent experience that's incredibly hard to get because there's only one seating per night.

DH left our landline number on the V&A's reservation message line while using his cellphone to keep calling the line, hoping one or the other would come through soon after nearly an hour of trying.

Naturally, we learned to our dismay that the only night we could get Chef's Table was on our Moonlight Magic night. MM has never before been scheduled during our stay in our 6 years of DVC Membership. And, with it at DHS, there's no way we're canceling that!

Isn't that just the way it goes sometimes?

What time would the dinner be over? Honestly, the beginning of the Moonlight Magic hours are the most crowded. I would do the dinner and just mosey over to HS afterwards to soak up some of the atmosphere.

Oh, Chef's Table is a leisurely 10 courses, an entire evening from 5:30 to 10:00 or so. Even the 7-course meal takes 3.5-4 hours if you savor each course as we enjoy doing.

Besides, formal, semi-formal or at least dressy clothing is required there. We'd not want to go MMing in the fancy clothes we wear to V&A's.

I'm admittedly indulging in a very elitist whine.

Im sorry that is happening to you! I dont know what MM is though?

I was just feeling sorry for myself as I found out our 60 + day is when we are camping in the Smokies - no cell phone at all!
Dilemna is trust our 20yo son to do it or maybe some travel agents would do it? ugh

Ugh! That is a painful conflict. I'm delighted to hear that Chef's Table is back, though. I've been lucky enough to have done it twice and it's really extraordinary. I hope you will have another opportunity soon!

My opinion: MM is fun and a great perk but it is still just a night in the park with low crowds and some extra charter meets (we have done DHS MM twice.) I have not done V&A's chef table but others I have done are a better experience than MM without question. That said, if I wanted to save a lot money and still have a good night, MM is a better value since fun at $0 is really hard to beat!

Note: We are on a forum where we are paying for and discussing experiences that 95% of the world can not afford or ever get to do so just because you bumped your experiences to 96%, I don't think you need to apologize for a "very elitist whine." Everything on here can be defined as that.

Thanks for the encouragement.

When I overheard DH say to the V&A's reservationist, "That's the one night we absolutely can't do it," I knew precisely and agonizingly what that "it" meant.

We haven't as much vacation-scheduling leeway as we wish so can only go for a single week at certain times of the year. Switching our vacation once MM dates are announced isn't possible. That's what made this so painful even though we know MM won't be anywhere near as big a deal as MNSSHP or MVMCP.

Our TA does dining reservations, so maybe you could find someone? Not sure how that works if you already have a trip booked. We can always go in and adjust, cancel or make more reservations, but having someone else get up and do it at the 60 days is so nice.

thank you. My son said he'd do it and he knows I'll kill him if he screws up! I am used to doing everything myself now but this will be may first time since Genie+ and ILL$. I might pay someone big to do all these virtual queue and Genie+ and ILL! It would be hard to get a travel agent to do that! Maybe I need to start a business!
