I'm leaving for the Yacht Club today for 3 nights. I have a waterview with the florida residents rate and I just tried to upgrade us to concierge. The hotel itself says it has 2 rooms left, but will only give me rack rate. In order to get the discount, I have to call CRO. CRO tells me that they have no rooms left up there. I call the hotel back, and yes, they have 2 choices for me. I call CRO again, and no, they are sold out. I just can't justify paying another $236 a night just to be up there, so I guess I'll stay put.

Things are strange sometimes. Make sure to ask about upgrading at check-in.

Keep trying with CRO.

It's possible they have 2 rooms left at rack rate but no rooms with the FL resident discount.

Good luck.

I just called CRO again, they show no rooms left, with or without the discount. I just can't justify $236 a night just so I can have a bathrobe in my room and a bagel in the morning! Heck, I'll just keep my lagoon view and order up breakfast every morning and save us a bundle.

Good attitude! :)

I've always wanted to stay at the Yacht Club. HAVE FUN!

Yeck, saving all that money you can buy your own expensive Bathrobe and take it home with you....and call room service for your bagel.

I'll still check when we get there. The funny thing is that someone we know who works there and is pretty high up and requested this upgrade for us if it was available through the GM's office. The hotel has the rooms, but didn't honor his request so I figured that I would just pay for it. I felt badly having him do that for us in the first place anyway as I don't like to take advantage.
I do know that they haven't assigned a room to us yet, which is strange. Watch after all of this, I'm upgraded anyway. Won't I look dumb!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone. I knew I could count on you all to make my day better!! I know it's sound silly, being that I am lucky enough to be going to Disney, but hey, silly isn't always bad!

I agree with those who suggested to check when you arrive. I was offered an upgrade for a very reasonable price at the BC last May. Can't hurt to ask especially if your happy with what you have reserved anyway.

Have a great trip.

I am glad I read this post! I have been *upset* because I can't upgrade to concierge. It is peak time (Easter) and I have called almost every day looking for a concierge room...nothing. I have a water view room and should be very happy with that. I think I will order room service a few days and enjoy! As everyone has said...* Your at Disney World *.
Thanks for getting my head straight!;)

I know where you're coming from, Caroline!

Have fun there and say hi to Travis for us!:wave2:

We'll be checking into the YC concierge next weekend!

Good luck with your upgrade!
I DO believe in DIS pixie dust!!!!!::yes::

I had a similar aggravating situation. We were there 2/9 - 2/16 and we had a great AP rate at the Poly. There was a snow storm where we live so we decided maybe it would be best to stay one extra night. We called the front desk and they said they did have rooms but I would have to pay rack rate. Which, ain't gonna' happen! So, they referred me to CRO who told me there were no more rooms left with the AP discount except for conceirge.

I know they have to block out a certain number of rooms for the discounted rates they offer BUT I think if you're already there and want/need to stay they should give you the rate you checked in with. Besides, AP discounts are good for 'CHECK-IN' dates. Not necessarily the actual dates you're there.

I was somewhat aggravated about this but it certainly didn't spoil my trip. We ended up going on home as originally planned and the snow strom turned out to be a dud.
