We are planning a trip to WDW in September, and I decided to use my frequent flyer miles to bring my niece (6) and nephew (9) down with us.

However, I was just informed that my nephew thinks WDW is just for girls!

What’s up with that? My first trip to the World was about his age, and I loved it – I was also a typical little boy: cars, dinosaurs, rough-n-tumble, etc.

I was really hoping to make this a biennial thing since I rarely get to see them, but his attitude towards WDW is completely unexpected.

For those of you with children – especially small boys – have you encountered this? What can I say to him? :confused3

Book the stich breakfast, show him the boy movies. Peter Pan, Lilo and Stich, Give him the disney website tour. My Dd loved the pics of the stunt show, haunted mansion, tower of terror, dinosaur, etd. She didnt want to ride them but she thought it was so cool to watch them. He just is thinking princesses and not all the cool other things that are there!

sit him in front of the computer, while both of you look at the WDW website. Show him all the rides like tower of terror, haunted mansion, etc. and places like House of Blues if he likes music, or Disney Quest.
Disney World may not be the testosterone junkie paradise like Universal, but it's got plenty for a 9 Y.O. boy.

Sounds like typical 9 year old boy stuff. Probably because of the castle, all the princessy stuff. One boy says it and the rest all agree because that's what boys do :confused3 . My kids have all had their "that's for girls" stages.

If it helps you can tell him my three boys (now ages 8, 13, and 16) LOVE WDW and love going back. It's got Indiana Jones, Star Wars, trains, dinosaurs, wild animals, PIRATES pirate: ... all kinds of boy stuff. Not to mention very boy- friendly rides! Definitely play up the stunt show!

The best way to convince him is just to bring him and let him see for himself!

Coasters! Coasters in the Dark (Space Mountain), "coasters" that get you wet (Splash Mountain), runaway trains (BTMRR), DINOSAUR!, Kali River Rapids ... Stitch ... Indiana Jones ... Star Tours! Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin!!!!! Tower of Terror! Lights, Motors, Action!

I have a 9 yo DS who adores Disney!!! For him, it's a constant adventure! He knows it's not all princesses and looks for the guy things ... firing lasers in Buzz Lightyear SRS, watching Indiana Jones stunt spectacular b/c it's so adventurous and you always see something different each time. Lights, Motors, Action brings out the stunt car racer in the boys, making them dream of fast cars and spinning them out! Riding Star Tours and feeling like you're right in the middle of a Star Wars movie! Drawing characters and the Animation Station place. Loads for boys to do!!!!!

Has your nephew ever seen the Disney planning video?! That might convince him that it's not all girly!!!!

My DS9 has been going to WDW since he was 3 1/2 and loves it each and every time!!!! And, believe me, he's no princess!!!!!

Oh yeah -- Pirates! And, Test Track!!!! Forgot those, which score high w/the 9 yo set!!!!! I've heard that they're going to have a POTC movie display up at MGM. That should be cool. We loved the Narnia one and are anxious to see the new POTC themed one!!!!

Thanks guys. I was thinking about pulling the "Captain Jack Sparrow" on him and then ask him if he wanted to go see where it all came from (POTC).

But the idea of the WDW website is awesome. I don't see how any kid could resist that. I dont want to make him go , I want him to WANT to go!

Great advice. Thanks! :thumbsup2
