I have a question regarding extra charges for children over 18 staying with parents. They may be over 18, but they're still our children! They still live at home (one is 18 and one is 20), and besides, what difference does it make if there are only 4 total people in the room, 2 to a bed? The question I have is, can I fudge a little on their ages when making my res, or will they have to prove their ages upon check-in? I hate to sound cheap, but $50 a night extra does make a big difference to us. Thanx!

Your first post on this board is asking if it is okay to violate Disney's policies? Good luck with that. :rotfl: You have been forewarned.

Your kids are adults. It costs extra to have more than 2 adults in a room.

That has always been a major pet peve of mine. (that and the no 800 number for making ressies). I competely agree with you.

That is one reason I love DVC. No extra charge for adults. I doesn't mater how many children or adults you have in the room, as long as it is at or under the limit. (they also have a 800 number! :cool1: )

I think if you have been to WDW before and gave the birhdate of your kids they very well may have that on file. You will not have to provide proff of age when you check in. They won't quesiton you. They also don't have to be with you when you check in. If you sneek extra people in the room with out front desk knowing about it that can be a problem because they don't have a resort ID, you might need that later to get into the parks for EMH or if you stay at Y&B to get in the pool. There is no diffence between a 17 year olds resort ID or a 19 year olds.

I agree 25$ a night per adult is steep and dumb.

I also agree with Allison that is very unlikly you are going to get many people here to say forget the policy and do what you want. That doesn't happen much on Dis. ;)

Good luck, do what you are going to do. :rolleyes1 If you advertise it you are going to get slamed around here, but don't let strangers on a message board get to you. :)

DisneyPHD mentioned DVC. You might look into renting points in a 1 bedroom. It would be much roomier for 4 adults.

That is true, and it won't cost more because of your adult kids.

However unless you rent at OKW the 2nd bed is a sofa sleeper and not that comy for 2 adult kids to sleep in. A one bedroom has a king size bed in the main room, a bathroom with a shower and jacuzi tub, a kicthen (full size) a eating area, a main area with a sofa bed and a T.V. and DVD or VCR it. There is also a T.V in the bedroom. Each room has a blacony also, some 2 (one for each room). The rooms at OKW are bigger then any of the other resorts (it is the oldest and orignal one.)

You even could all fit in a studio, but again the sofa sleeper thing.

We stayed at BCV in a studio and our friends at BC. There room was much bigger then ours.

Good idea Allison (and stays with in the Disney rules! :flower: )

It really isn't Disney's problem if you "kids" don't seem to be ready to fly the nest. The fact is...they are adults, able to work, vote, fight for their country and liable for tax debts.

If the Disney rates aren't ok with you, book a DVC room via CRO, rent points from and owner or stay offsite.

The DIS board is to exchange ideas and education about Disney and Disney vacations! It isn't here so we can validate people who knowingly plan on breaking the rules and are just looking for a pat on the back for it to make them feel better.

wow.........thats a great 'welcome to the boards!' response you got...yikes....

sorry, everyone........but i agree with her, if there are 2 queen size beds in the room and 2 people fit in each bed, then who cares how old they are. that is 4 people, regardless of age!

my infant is free and makes more of a mess than i do so it can't be about the mess they'll make. babies also use lots of hot water for their baths, so its not the water cosumption. no free breakfast involved so its not that.........

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm........

Ok I do really have to agree with ado121, was that nessasry as a welcome to Dis? Really? I mean many (most) 18 year olds still live at home, many still in HS right now. You can still write your adult kids off on your taxes if they are going to school full time (and put them on your health insurance) with no penailty. I don't think 18 and 20 year olds are refusing to leave the nest. (25 and 30 year olds yes.) In fact more and more kids remain at home and commute when going to college. As far as working goes, they can legally work at age 14.

The problem is it is a blanket policy, more then 2 adults over the age 18 are subject to a addtional fee. It would be too hard to say, if is ok if it is your own kids. Then people would trying to pass others off as their kids. The line has to be drawn somewhere. I can understand Disneys reason for the poilicy, I just think the reality of it does stink for parents with older teens (yes 18, and 19 are older teens.) Maybe it should be over 21? I think I would agree to that more.

Oh and bananarama, welcome to Dis, there are a lot of nice friendly people around here! (really!) :cheer2:

Disney cares and they get to set the terms of the agreement under which they rent you a room.

It's completely fine to agree with her but also completely irrelevant.

Disney is selling a product, you buy a product from a company on their terms, not your own.

Oh my goodness!!!! Just take your kids!!! IMHO not a big deal, I certainly would not be bent out of shape if I knew and saw you together in your room!!!! Bigger fish to fry in this world! The room will sleep you all comfortably.

I have to agree with Allison, it truly is no different than the pricing for tickets, buffets, etc. Whether we think it is right or not is really not the question. If you wish to stay at Disney and you have young adults in your party 18 and over, you have to pay the extra adult charge.

If you find this unfair, then you can choose to stay elsewhere.

I do know at certain times randomly we have been asked for photo ID and you definitely have to use resort ID when you use Extra Magic Hours.

They do keep it on file. They know more about me than they should, and every time we call for a room, they can tell me their names, friends names, ages, when I got married, and the other day something I still don't know, they told me how many trips to disney I've made.

Yes, but last time I called they said the computer showed I had been to WDW over a 100 times! :rotfl: We are Disney fans I must admit, but living in Michigan, no I have not made a 100 trips to WDW! I was later told by a former cast member that often when a person says too many times to count they put in 100. However I have never said that! :teeth: I always keep track! They often have different records for a husband then wife too.

Interesting they have wedding aniversarys. Does that mean I gave it to them once when we were celebrating our 10ths, do they have it on record and will send a gift next time we got with out promting? :teeth: (I am just joking on this, no flaming that I expect gifts or upgrades.)

Sure, you are just looking for that upgrade to concierge aren't you? :teeth: Just kidding!! :goodvibes

Oh man you caught me! :rotfl: We were upgraded from standard view to savana at AKL and had a lovely little gift waiting for us in the room. It was very nice! But there is no way I am going back to WDW in Aug again! I much perfer winter!

Actually I can see how that would be helpful to Disney to keep track. People who say their wedding aniversary is in June, May, March, Dec, they might cacth on! ;)
