I'm completely confused by this. You say you have an annual pass & visited many times. You say you want to buy the child ticket because of the expense. You say you've never visited with kids. You say you didn't know the price difference was so minimal. You say it isn't your first rodeo. Now you're not pleased when someone responds with helpful advice? Perhaps you can clarify what it is you're posting about again.
I'm not sure why I want to explain all this to you when it is very clear... However, I'm local and I have an annual pass. My GF and her kids do not. I have never visited the parks as part of a party with children before. I also have never looked at the cost of a 1 day ticket since I have always had an annual pass. Does that break it down for you?

"It's not my first rodeo" is in reference to knowing that packing my own food/water would save money since previous poster made a helpful, yet incredibly obvious suggestions of:
"If the budget is tight, instead of buying food in the parks, consider packing a lunch and snacks for the day.
Don't forget to take your own water bottles too.
Food and drink costs in the parks can be an expensive part of a trip."

Like, hey, I've been there before and know that stuff is costly. Some posters snark back that I shouldn't go if I can't pay for the difference in the two tickets. This was discovered to be minimal shortly after I posted. I was quick on the trigger to make a thread before checking the web and discovering the difference was a minimal $6. Let me know if there is more info I can provide.

Here are some options:

If the cost is too much to pay for the fair admission, don't go. Disney isn't for you.
If you want to save money, try sleeping in the parks. This way you don't have to pay for a room. Careful though, the geese bite.
Save money by parking off property at a gas station and then walking a few miles to the park.
Are you the type of person who pays "sticker" price for a car?

Oh, and by the way, I was able to get some discounted tickets through a family member who works for a large company that offers discounted tickets to most of the So Cal theme parks. I think I saved a good $40. Good times. The DIS has never failed to entertain me over the years.

Apparently it is your first rodeo if you didn't go to the website and just look up the ticket prices. Duh!

It's great that that worked for you. I have the same philosophy of not making separate meals. They eat what we eat. However, the picky two generally just choose to skip the meal (including restaurants if they don't like anything) while the non picky one continues to eat normally... What works for some does not work for all...

I expressed frustration to our pediatrician about kids refusing to eat, and he said, "a child won't starve him/herself. Eventually they'll eat." Do you adhere to "if you refuse to eat, you're choosing to go hungry"? That's what we had to do. My eldest is SO picky. But you know what? He ate broccoli for the first time tonight, ate a serving of green beans last week for the first time, and even tried some of my crab legs yesterday when we ate at Red Lobster for Mother's Day! I was so proud of him!

We do, I call it "eat or starve." Problem is they are not big eaters to begin with so they are usually perfectly fine starving for one meal. I'm not going to continue serving dinner each meal until they eat it so they are fine with breakfast and lunch. I definitely will not force them to eat, my parents tried that for years and it didn't work. I still don't eat meat. :upsidedow One will sometimes try things, she's the oldest and getting better at it. The youngest will not try anything! Hopefully he'll outgrow it... And the middle will eat most things, always has. Funny thing is when the middle kid was born, he pretty much slept for the first 24 hrs and didn't eat. When I told this to the pediatrician, he just said "eh, when he's hungry, he'll eat." Helped make me much less paranoid about baby feeding schedules :-)
