Age restrictions on hotel rooms?

Hi all, just looking to clarify something, I have a trip in July, I am going, along with my girlfriend, and my two younger cousins. I am 30, girlfriend is 25, cousins are 18 and 17. I booked two rooms at All Star Music and currently the room arrangements are:

Room 1: Myself and girlfriend
Room 2: Older cousin as the 'adult' and her younger brother

Now, this is fine, but I was surprised after I got off the phone because I thought to stay in a room with someone under 18, the 'adult' had to be at least 21. I'm not sure why I thought this, but I seem to remember it. So, just to confirm, is that true? Is that going to trip us up during check in?

Even if it isn't, we're probably going to change it to each room is one of us (myself and girlfriend) and one of the younger kids. Not sure I want them to be in a room alone, especially if they can't guarantee we will be adjacent.

Thanks,
Matt

I don't think so--I'm pretty sure it's just fine for the 18 and 17 year old to have their own room together. At least, I hope so! As an 18th birthday gift, we are sending my teen age son with his younger brother to Disney, so they will be 18 and 16 in a room together.

When you think about it, there are 18 year olds that are MARRIED to 16/17 year olds--and they do things like rent apartments, go on vacations, etc. together. Why not cousins/siblings?

For Disney resorts the policy is there must be at least one person 18+ in each room rented and its that person that must book and check in.

18+ is a legal adult in this country.

Many hotels opt to have their own policy of 21+ but not Disney.

I wouldn't bother to change anything.
Wouldn't you prefer to sleep in the same room as your GF and let your cousins who are siblings sleep in the same room?
Even if your rooms are not connecting or next to each other they will very likely be close to each other vs opposite sides of the resort.
I would not hesistate for a second to let say my 19yr old niece and 17yr old nephew to stay in a room together without me. I mean really your cousins could freely book their own trip at a different time and you wouldn't be there with them.

FYI "adjacent" only means in proximity ... aka same building. If you were hoping for rooms that were next door with a connecting door you need to request "connecting" rooms. Even if you don't get that door between hopefully it will get you next door or very close.

[Yes lead on reservation needs to be 18 years old. You should have no issue. They let groups of 14 and 15 year olds in room with no adults with all the groups ...]

Worrying runs in my family :), the younger cousin is also a bit anxious traveling without their parents, he's a momma's boy, so there's a good chance he wouldn't want to be in a room with just his sister who is barely older than him. I would prefer to stay with my girlfriend but I have to make sure the kids, and their parents, are comfortable and happy too, they're the priority, this whole trip is for them!

Ahh thanks for the tip! Connecting is not required, but would be convenient, so I will ask for that. Thanks!

18 is fine. My DD18 and her friend, also 18, just returned from a trip to Disney. They booked it, paid for it and flew down there without any assistance from us, except for a ride to the airport. So, Disney must be okay with it!

Oh my. I was in college across the country from my mom at 17. And I was a naive little dingbat, but I did ok.

I think maybe this could be used as a learning experience for him, since he’ll be an adult very soon and off on his own.
