I know I've seen age requirements for Broadway shows before but now I can't remember where I found the info. I seem to remember something like "children under the age of ________ not admitted"

My brother wants me to get tickets for his family to see a disney broadway show for christmas. His daughter is 10 months old and his step son is going to be 5 in a few weeks. I really don't think either one of them will sit still or enjoy the show (especially the 5 year old :sad2: ) I've tried to hint to my brother that it isn't like watching a disney movie on TV but he just thinks this is the greatest idea to take the kids.

Can anyone help me out with some info about age restrictions/recommendations?

I'm pretty sure there is no way a 10 month old is going to be admitted! I've never seen babies or toddlers at Broadway shows. It's very important that the child is able to sit quietly - people spend hundreds of dollars on these tickets. If the 5 year old is VERY mature, it might be okay, although even Disney plays can be overwhelming, and scary at times (ie - the beast).

Many have an under 4 not permitted. Some have advisories, not approprite for children under 12 or 9. Each show has its own rules.

The Lion King has no age restrictions. Beauty and the Beast has a no children under 5 allowed in the first 3 rows.

Just go to the website of the show you would like to see and you will find it there. The 5 year old should love a Disney production. Mine did! Again, they arent all created equal. ;)

I don't know if there is a set age but there is no way I would take a baby. All I know is if they do they better be prepared to leave the instant it makes a noise because like the other poster said at the price of those seats I don't think it would be appreciated. I have taken a 5 yr old to an appropriate show. But this was a child who could sit still and watch the show.

What about the Christmas show at Radio City Music Hall with the Rockettes?

Most won't admit children under 4. You can call the theater for the show you're interested in to find out. A 10 month old will not enjoy any show. I didn't take my own dd to kiddie shows (like Barney) until she was over 3. I hope your brother in law realizes that unless he has an asle seat, he won't be able to easily exit with his baby if s/he should start to cry. The seats are very close together w/ little leg room.

We went to the Broadway touring production of the Lion King in Philadelphia with my 2 (almost 3) year-old in June. He sat and enjoyed the whole show (and he's not always a sit-still type). Remember, too, that often everyone is required to have a ticket (even the 10month-old). So that's a big expense for the baby.
