I know there are heighth requirements on some of the rides... but are there age requiremements? either to ride in general or ride alone? We are planning our second trip this coming June... thanks in advance for the info!

none currently. 7 years ago, when my daughter was less than a year old, we asked when we could take her on Splash Mountain. the cast member at the line said she could ride when she was a year old. shortly afterwards, they shut the ride down for a really long time (we had AP's and were at DLR on average about twice a week, sometimes more). she turned 1 not long after the ride reopened, we tried to go on and were informed that the new rules were that children had to be 40" to ride! bummer! but it was because of the new seating on the logs.

anyway, that's the ONLY time i can ever remember there being any type of age rule associated with a ride. now the requirements all pertain to height alone.

have fun!

I'm very sure that 7 years ago a CM gave you wrong information. I'm pretty sure Splash has always had a height requirement.

Matterhorn used to be kids have to be 3 (I know for a fact because its on an old map I still have), but that has since changed to a height requirement as well.

The only ride that might still have age requirements is Autopia and that would be min. age 1 to ride. But I'm almost positive that they also did away with this and replaced it with a height requirement.

I believe the Matterhorn now has a height requirement for people like my mom who lied about me being 3 when I was 2 and a half because I was braver then a two year old should be and would have non of this non thrill ride nonsense. pirate:

I know there is a minimum age requirement to ride some rides alone, ie Dumbo. I'm not sure what it is though. I want to say it's like 7 or 9 but I could be a year or two off :confused3 . I know they have it for Dumbo because we've come across that one, (my DD wanted to ride alone and CM asked her age) so I'm sure they have a minimum age requirement to ride alone for other rides too, I'm just not sure which ones or what the age is.

Min. age to ride alone (or with another child) is 7. My DD9 is asked constantly how old she is-which really "ticks" her off. She's only 4'-1" and petite. I told her I would make her a button that says "I'm 9-don't ask!" :rotfl2: She gets asked this every time she rides TSM and MM alone.

Anyway, as far as our experience has been, it's 7 or they must ride with an adult.

Here are the height requirements from the DLR website

32" Autopia (must ride with someone 54" or tall) Note-My DD and her friend rode this together and even though they were both tall enough (49-51") they really couldn't operate the gas pedal properly. My DD wasn't very happy when they got off.

35" Gadgets Go Coaster; Matterhorn

36" Tuck 'n Rolls DriveEm Buggies

40" BTRM; Splash and Space Mtn; Star Tours; Jumping Jellies; Soarin'; and Tower of Terror

42" Grizzly River Rapids; Mulholland Madness; Redwood Creek Challenge Trail Brother Bear Show

46" Indy Jones

48" Screamin'; Orange Stinger (though this has changed and they know allow smaller kids to ride with an adult-the chairs are joined)

52" Malibooomer (still hoping my DD9 will grow tall enough before they take this down.)

54" Autopia-to ride alone

Also, in Redwood Creek Challenge Trail the Smoke Jumpers (zip line) has a max. height, something like 60" +/-

HTH. :goodvibes

36" Tuck 'n Rolls DriveEm Buggies

I had read this too but last time we went over there (in November) I didn't see a sign or anything about it and we took DS3 on it without anyone questioning his height even though he is around 36-37 inches.

When we were there earlier this month, there was a CM standing at the entrance. My daughter was just shy of the 36" mark.... :sad1:

Oh really? Maybe we just got lucky. But I was actively looking for the little thing that they make the kids stand next to to check their height and I didn't see one. I also fully expected someone to stop us at some point to measure him but no one ever did. :confused3 Sorry your DD wasn't quite tall enough.

When we went, the measuring stick was right at the entrance. But in years prior, I don't remember seeing it either....And of course, it was a ride DD really wanted to go on!!

Thanks everyone for your help... My two boys will be 6 when we go... and one is 47 in and one is 49 in tall. So ride wise I think we will be good!

Autopia doesn't have an age requirement unless riding alone...which is at least 7 years old. I saw a very young baby on it just this dec and I was kinda shocked. The mom had it in a sling. I am not sure if I will take my daughter on this yet or not...maybe if my husband and son are behind us so I know we wont get slammed into.

Does anyone have any ideas for me?
I am a bit concerned still I have two boys 5 and 6 , 45 and 46 inches. How will we be able to ride the rides that only seat me and one child? I was hoping they could ride together on some of the smaller ones like Gaget or Dumbo.

welllll, i'm not so sure. not to be argumentative, lol, but at the time that we were given that information, my oldest son, then 3 years old, had already been on Splash Mountain, and was not 40" tall yet. :confused3

wow, thanks for the info. i never knew there was an age requirement on dumbo, etc. i guess that's because we have a family of 6, so we pair off evenly for rides. nobody in our family ever asks to ride alone, lol.

I ran into this at Jumpin' Jellyfish. Kids do have to be 7 in order to ride alone on any ride. However, you can ask the attendant at the gate if there is an additional cast member available to ride with your child. We did this while I sat out with the baby. The Cast Member was so cute with DS4 and he loved it. A little independence - but supervised. It was a win-win.

does "ride alone" in the case like dumbo include even if the adult is on the ride also, but not in the elephant with them? What about on Gaget where the adult can sit right behind them?

You won't have any problem with Gadget's Go Coaster -- your boys can sit in 1 seat, and you can sit directly behind them. (I rode this with DS6 and DD4.)

I think that you will be fine with the rest, except possibly the following:

- Dumbo
- Autopia
- Tuck 'n Roll's Drive 'Em Buggies
- Buzz Lightyear (BLAB)
- Peter Pan

Maybe someone else has some suggestions for those. :wizard:

Kind of coincidence this would come up...yesterday at DL a mother and daughter were riding SM in the row behind me. The daughter was 40", but only twenty three months old! And, yes, she loved the ride.

Ok thanks.. Peter Pan I know will be fine as I rode that with two kids last time.
Buzz I saw a lady ride with her two littles.. is Toy story set up the same? With the full bar to hold everyone in?

TSMM is different. It will only allow 2 to sit together. There are seperate restraining devices...not just one bar. Hope that helps.
