Age & Height restrictions

I am planning my first trip to Disneyland in October and hope someone can help me.

My son will be turning 3 in November but he is very tall (could pass off as a 3.5 year old now), Technically speaking, he wouldn't need a ticket to enter the park, but I have read that several attractions have both age AND height restrictions, so will he be allowed on the rides if he is tall enough? Or would it be safer to just get an entrance ticket for him?

I am actually not even sure if he'll want to go on the 'scarier' rides, he's a gentle giant, but I would like to eliminate any possible hiccups before they happen.

Thanks!

Good question....Sorry, but I think I only have HALF the answer. To the best of my knowledge, Goofy's Bounce House is the only attraction that has a minimum age to *ride* (3yrs...w/a max height of 52").....others have height requirements, and some (Splash Mt for example) have state that under a certain age (8 for Splash) must be accompanied by an adult.

I hope that helps at least a little bit....

My DS was that age and size when he went as a toddler and we had no problem. He got in w/o ticket and could ride even Big Thunder Mountain (and went in Goofy House even). He loved it at that age.
My DD who we just took at the age of 28 months last week. She was a premmie and is slightly small for her age. We got her in w/o a ticket but there were many fewer rides she could do. She enjoyed Fantasyland and that was about it. Only problem we ran into was at the gate for CA, the CM started arguing w/ grandpa (who had her on his shoulders) that she did not look like she was only two and that we were trying to sneak her into the park without paying!!!! We drop enough $$$ in each park every year to feed a small country, so I can't believe they even went there! With her small size, I wanted to ask what this kid thought a typical 2 yo looked like!
Anyway, do the color armband when you get in to see what he can and can't ride.
GOOD LUCK and ENJOY!

Matterhorn Bobsleds requires to be 3 years or older. I'm 15 years old & I'll be riding this ride on November 9 because it reopens on November 8.

on the Matterhorn last year on Sept 9th without any problems at all. It is height restricted is all(at least it was then!) and my then 2 year old got on it just fine and LOVED it!!!

I just checked the Disneyland website, and both Goofy's Bounce House & Gadget's Go Coaster require 3 yrs old. I haven't tried these, so I don't know how strict they are, if they actually ask how old the kids are or not. I'm actually going tomorrow with my 2 1/2 yr old, and I am a little nervous to try them. He may get excited to go on them, and then he may not be allowed because isn't 3 yet. Not sure if we will try or not. IF we do I will report!

If your issue is the concern that your child can't go on the rides because you did not purchase a ticket that wont be a problem unless you are wanting to use a fast pass. But since most of those rides have height restrictions anyway it probably wont be an issue.
My advice is to get measured when you go in and get the wristband - that way you have no doubts whether or not you child can do a ride. This can avoid some dissapointment by making your child measure at those rides and then telling them no.
We have a tall 21/2 yr old son and I dont take him on rides that I am concerned about, because I would rather wait and let him ride them when he is ready. Nothing worse than scaring a child too early with an intense ride - makes for some bad associations with rides and sometimes a lot longer time before they are willing to go on in the future.
You know your kids best and can make the decision thats right for them!!
