Age/Height restrictions on rides/A Kingdom etc.

I looked at a height restriciton for several rides thorughout all the parks and my 5 year old is tall enough to ride almost every ride. He is 50 inches tall.
(Tall for his age)

When I look at my Passporter, there are several rides that state he is not old enough. (for example, "It's Tough To be a Bug, (age 6) Kali River Rapids (age 7) MGM Backlot Tour (age 6), Honey I Shrunk (age 8) Test Track (age 7) etc.

Is this an age restriction or a suggestion ?

Do they go by height or age or both on these and other rides?

I believe those are suggestions. Its tough to be a bug and Honey I shrunk the audience aren't even rides, they're 3-D movies that could scare a young child but there is no height requirement.

My DD who is 6 (almost 7) has been going on Test Track since she was tall enough, since at least 2004.

My 5 yr old went on everything except the 2 he wasn't tall enough for RNR and PW. The rides and shows you listed will be no problem for a 5 yr old.

My DD barely hit the 40 inch mark at 3.5 yrs and started going on Splash Mtn. Test Track, Thunder Mtn., and Kali River Rapid. She loves them! She also liked Star Tours. We are headed back Thanksgiving week (she'll be 6) and she can't wait to finally go on Space Mtn and try Everest. She was a little scared of the 3D concept so we kept her away from Honey I shrunk the audience and we haven't tried Tower of Terror yet mostly because of the stuff that leads up to the ride. See how your son does at Mickey's Philharmagic or Muppet 3D before trying Honey I shrunk the audience. Every kid is different.
