Hi!

We're hoping to go on the 7-nt Western cruise on Jan 15, 2005 with our daughter, who will turn 3 on Feb. 9th. This would be our 1st time on DCL. By going before her birthday, I understand that we'd only pay port fees and taxes for her. But does that mean that she would be restricted to Flounders Reef? If she wanted to check out the 3/4-year old group in the Oceaneers' club, would they let her since it's so close to her 3rd b-day, or not since we didn't pay the age 3-12 fare for her? Not that we'd be doing it to get the Oceaneers' club for "free" since she would not likely want to be on her own there for very much, but I'd hate to have to tell her she can't go in if she saw something "fun" in there! Any advice? We could consider moving to a date after her 3rd b-day but so far this is the only sailing we have found with prices we can afford (found group rates at The Magic For Less- anyone ever use them??)

Thanks for any info! Hoping this works out as we'd really like to sail on Disney!!

If she is within 30 days of her birthday AND fully potty-trained, she will be able to be in the Club.

If not fully potty-trained, you can go in with her -- you just won't be able to leave her by herself.

Our DD was 2 1/2 and was turning 3 about 3 months after our cruise. She was completely pottytrained and was accepted into the kids club under a "trial" basis. She did fine.

Great! Thanks for the info!! She's potty-training now so hopefully (!!) will be good by then!

One question-- since she'll be under 3 when we sail, does that mean she won't be "registered" already for the Club? And if not, would we need to do that as soon as we board, or something? I am also assuming from your comments that we can stay with her in the Club if she wants us to?

Getting ready to book tonite! :bounce:

You would still have to register for the club once you board. There would not be a reserved spot for her, though. If the counselors accept her on a trial basis as suggested above, threre would have to be an extra space in the club. I doubt you would have any problem, though.

Our kids did not want us to leave them alone in the club, either. We were able to stay as long as we wanted without a problem. There isn't a very good place for parents to sit or stand without being in the way, but we made due.

Just to second what the others have said. Their info is correct. If she's that close to being 3, she'll probably be on the list of "3 year olds" that the club has. However everyone has to register their child and complete a Participation Confirmation sheet with specific info about the child. That's also when they give out the wristbands with the child's name, stateroom and lifeboat station on them. I recommend registering the first afternoon and getting the bracelet because it's additional identification in case your child accidentally gets separated from you on the ship. Any CM can look at the bracelet and know where she belongs.

Talk to the Counselors and if your DD is fully potty trained, she should be fine in the club. Parents are welcome to stay with their children any time in the club.

DCL will allow a child to move "up" in the programming if they are within 30 days of the birthday that would put them in the next group. So, provided that she is fully potty trained, she will be allowed to completely, fully register and participate in the Club programming.

An almost 3 or 3 who is NOT fully potty trained can participate if a parent is present.

I would suggest that you check on her every 60-90 minutes and take her to the bathroom then. That would avoid the possibility of accidents. The club has a policy (regardless of age) that after a certain number of accidents they feel that a child is not potty trained and only allow that child to participate if a parent is present.
