Has anyone done the AG deluxe package at any of the nearby hotels? I noticed the Marriot does the pink sheets/duvet/robes but is 5 miles away; the Residence does the take home frame/picture/tee shirt and is walking distance; does the Hyatt do anything?? Which of the above do you prefer if you have stayed at any or all of them??

I'm kind of thinking that for our first trip, we may do the Mariott, b/c I think she would enjoy the robes/pink/ etc. The Residence also does a $30 gift card. I'm thinking for memories, she would enjoy the Mariott better. I am sure you can buy the tee at the store. Probably not budget best, but for a one time/first time visit, I'm thinking the Mariott. What do you think??

Anyone have pics? Are the doll beds the same at each?

We are doing the Marriott package in two weeks, driving thru Atlanta on way down to FL beach. It's our dd's 8th bday so we decided to go with the Marriott. They've gotten great reviews online too. Also, the deluxe AG package there includes breakfast the next morning for 2 adults, 2 kids in the hotel restaurant. Total with tax was $145. Hope that helps. It's our first time going to an AG store.

Just got back from doing this 2 weeks ago. We stayed at the Residence Inn, which is literally across the parking lot from the AG store. We didn't do an extra-cost package, just told them we wanted the standard AG package. We got a studio room, which was nice. They called a day before we checked in to get my daughter's name, and they welcomed her by name as we were checking in. She got a letter on cute AG stationery from the manager, which entitled her to one free snack from the market. There was milk and Otis Spunkmeyer cookies in the room, and the AG doll bed. It's a little like a chair that folds out to a bed, but it was cute. (I pulled this pic from google...but this is the bed you receive).

We decided not to do the extra packages that include the gift card, etc because my daughter was using her bday $ she had been saving especially for this trip. We ate the free continental breakfast at the hotel. I do recommend eating in the AG restaurant, though. We ate the last seating they offer, which was 5:00, since the restaurant closes at 5:30. My daughter loved the food, which wasn't terribly overpriced, and they give you a little high chair to use for your dolls so they can sit at the table also. She also loved the little doll holder in the bathroom stalls, so your doll doesnt have to get icky on the bathroom floor!

I need to find the pics from Hannah's party there last year. She attended the birthday party for Samantha. If you can go tied near one of the special celebrations they're fun.

And did you feel safe walking from the hotel to the mall?

We stayed at the Marriott last year, AG deluxe pkg, and it was an awesome hotel. Probably the cleanest and most customer friendly hotel I've ever stayed at! The breakfast that is included was amazing. A huge buffet, plus a chef ready to cook you made to order omeletts, waffles, etc...

They also have an indoor/outdoor pool, and workout room (very clean machines in there!). Kids had a great time!

I'm glad to hear this. Your review sounds very much like other's I've read on the Marriott. Seemed worth the deluxe package, especially where breakfast is included. Glad you enjoyed it.

Has anybody been to both Atlanta and NYC AGPs? How does GA compare to NYC? From what AG says they are both different types of experiences and I know the GA store is smaller but by how much? Is there anything NYC doesn't have there?

I've been curious since they opened and wondered if it was worth the detour this summer (I drive I-95 with the DD's while DH flies to MCO so it's not right around the corner but certainly doable if I want to add a day or two) to see the Atlanta store or if we'd just be disappointed after visiting NYC?:confused3

Now I'm no expert because I haven't experienced either--so you can take my info with a grain of salt--however, from what I've read, the AG store in Atlanta, because it's a boutique, typically carries more "seasonal" outfits for dolls, because they don't have the space to carry all the inventory--so for one there are fewer products. There is also no stage show, but they do still have the bistro and a dessert counter. I know they do ear piercing there as well. Since my girls have been to neither, they'll have nothing to compare it to. However, if you've been to the one in NY already, I would think the Atlanta one would seem much smaller with limited inventory/fewer displays. Not sure I would go out of my way to the Atlanta one if we had visited a regular one like in NY or Chicago.

There are no stage shows at any of the AGPs anymore. Those were discountinued last Sept. The "new activities" touted at the NYC store as just opening this month are in the space formerly used by the theater or so I am told by those who've been this month.

They were giving away free gift bags this morning for the new Rebecca doll introduction. I was going to go up to wait in line early but decided to watch the budget instead. Gotta remember to look on ebay later to see what was in them cause I figure if hundreds were given out, it's a safe bet that somebody'll list a few on ebay in the next week or two. If they had nice goodies in the bags, it'll still be cheaper to buy them on ebay than to have driven or taken the train into the city - especially by the time we made it thru the rest of the store, made the required visit to BABW just down the street, ate, and rode the ferris wheel at TRU before heading back home with our "freebies"...:lmao:

The gift bags weren't spectactular at all. The included very little of value, except perhaps a pack of trading cards (which are being discontinued) and a poster. It had an AG magazine as well. I thnk many were disappointed.

In my mind, even without the show, if you have been to the AG store in NYC and you don't live in metro Atlanta.. .it isn't worth a detour at all.

Thanks, I figured they wouldn't be much but am so glad to know I was right. I feel much better now.:thumbsup2

We were in NYC a few days in Feb for the monday & Tuesday of Presidents' Day and celebrated both DD8 and my 50th bdays in the AGP cafe. We paid extra for the bday pkg b/c we already had GCs for the dinner so it was only a difference of like $6 to upgrade for the cake and bday favors. The cake was wonderful, and suprisingly large. The goodie bags weren't - a ribbon type necklace witrh charm, book, and stickers I think. After realizing there wasn't anything in it DD8 still hasn't opened them but I've seen them listed on ebay and it's exactly what we were given. Thankfully, the meal was terrific and the cake was so nice that it would probably have cost what the three of us paid to upgrade and then some if bought at the bakery so we still left happy campers.

On Tuesday when we there though Sephora gave out tote bags to the first 300 people to promote the Real Housewives of NY TV show. Those bags were incredible. The wristbands ran out literally right in front of us but a kind woman gave DD19 one of her lip gloss sets as we were leaving. Those Sephora bags had brushes, eye & lip sets, and all kind of goodies. We got to see them, just didn't get one for our own darn it. One salesperson estimated each to be worth close to $200 if purchased at retail. I looked for weeks but none ever surfaced on ebay and I felt just awful, apologizing to DD19, b/c I insisted we check out of The Plaza before getting in line that morning so we didn't have to double back. Bad mommy, bad, bad mommy...:guilty:

For those of you who may still be interested, we did the AG stay at the Marriott and ate at the Bistro. The deluxe package was not available for a week night stay but my dd was thrilled with the basic package.

When we arrived, there is a special check in for the AG. I allowed my dd to check us in. The hotel front staff were very polite and treated my dd like she was a princess. She received a very nice welcome letter, a gift card (for either a sundae or treat in the gift shop) upon check in and a time was arranged for milk and cookies to be brought to the room.

Once we went to the room, the AG bed was sitting out and waiting.

Our reservations were for 5:30 and even though the hotel was 5 miles from the mall, it was a very easy drive.

The meal was 14.95 for your choice of appetizer and entree. Drinks are extra.

The food was decent and the staff very friendly. After we ate, we shopped in the AG store and dd decided on buying Chrissa.

Even though we had a reservation, the bistro was not very busy. I asked our waitress about it, she said that since we chose a Thursday evening, that people would have a better chance of getting in without a reservation. On the weekends, she said it was totally crazy. So to be safe, always make a reservation.
