Afternoon Tea

I have ADR's for here with my almost 3 three old DD for our off day at WDW. Do you think we'll be OK or we will ruin the fun for others. DD is a well behaved almost 3 year old but a two year old all the same. TEA is all she wants to do on this trip. "Mommy we go to Tea party in Disney right. Just me you no KyKy(DS) no Daddy." I know she will behave OK not wild screaming child here but giggling will proably be a must. We can't afford the Princess Tea and she knows nothing about it being offered with princesses. She has tea parties all the time at home with her Dollies and Teddies so I thought this could be one thing I could do just for her as most of the trip is being planned around DS(7) and what he wants to do. So what do you think?? We go for it??

I think she'll be fine. We went in July with 4,6,8 yr. old girls. They were very well behaved and had a great time. That's all my youngest keeps talking about because we have pretend tea parties all the time. There were other little kids there as well.

Go...have a great time. It's a special mommy and daughter thing to do.

I'm usually that adult who is soooo annoyed by children. But, I think in this kind of situation it wouldn't bug me at all... if she isn't running or crying, I don't see why anyone would have a problem with it!

I agree. As long as she is not a "wild screaming child", I think that you should do it! You will both have memories to cherish! A little giggling isn't a bad thing Wild screaming children are another story! Have fun!

Definitely do it! Go and have a great time with your DD

The Garden View Lounge is not especially quiet; it's open a bit in the front to the Grand Floridian lobby, so you do have a little bit of background noise, and I'm sure that everyone else there will be chatting and having fun at their own tables too, so your DD will not stand out at all.

Have a magical time... we went in June with a 1 1/2 year old (who slept most of the time), a 5 yo, 8 yo, 9 yo and 13 yo - all really enjoyed it - a must do every trip now.

I second what everyone else has said. I took my DD8 in March who did not want to leave the park, and she had such a good time that she wants the whole family to go during our Dec. trip, and this is the only thing she has requested to do.

Also, there were people of all ages there including kids, and it wasn't "library quiet" either.

My DD and I would love to go to this but would a 9 year old boy feel out of place? Is it just ladies and girls? Do Men go to this? DH is very easy going and a "go with the flow" type of guy so I think he'd be fine but don't want DS to feel out of place. Would love to go with my family but if you guys think it's inappropriate for men and boys, DD and I would still enjoy it. What do you think?

My DS is now 9 and actually likes it. Oh, we had to drag him kicking and screaming the first time. His father tried to tell him it was actually a fun experience -- of course, DH had to be drug kicking and screaming his first time too. He only agreed b/c it was our anniversary.

This is now one of the things we like to do as a family. I think it is good for boys and men to have a little culture sometimes. What's good for the goose is good for the gander though. Which is why I make my DD watch football with us too!

I have taken my husband and he likes it......we sat beside another couple, husband and wife, so I would say yes men go and some like it. Would your son like tea and lots of goodies served in a fancy style, and if so, then take him...Actually I am a great believer in exposing children to everything in life...

Dream in disney,
i went in june with my husband. He was the only man in there at the time but he didnt feel out of place at all. Im sure lots of men go usually and im sure they all enjoy it too,

To answer yours and the OP's questions -- DD went when she was 1, and DS was 9 (at the same time). Both were well-behaved and had a great time. Nobody felt out of place age or gender-wise. Ours was a spur-of-the moment decision. We saw how nice it looked, and I called WDW dining from the GF lobby at 2:30 and got a 4:00 res that same day. While we waited, DH peeked at the menu and had what we call a "tantrum" because he thought were were paying $30 for a cup of tea (he only saw the "package") choices. We still tease him, "waaaahhh I don't want to go to a girly tea party!" Anyway, when it was all over, DH said he loved it, and we're all going back for my b-day again in Dec.

For those who have been, what did you order. The package choices seem so overwhelming, but it's hard to judge from the menus on allears exactly what would be good. Any suggestions?

I had the Buckingham Palace and DH got the Prince Edwards. DDs had the Mrs Potts. We all enjoyed our choices. The girls loved drinking out of real china. DH's platter was very hardy and filling. Mine was less so, but still very good. If you aren't sure what to order, you can order a la carte as well.

I had the Grand Tea. This was great, but a good amount of food. I really enjoyed this and was very full! I loved the pastries at the end, but I was almost too full for dessert.

My mom had a pot of tea, a champagne cocktail, and stawberries and cream. She got all of these ala carte.

My sister just had an ala carte order of pastries and some water or coke.

Overall, I liked the Grand Tea. I plan on ordering it when I go to tea in January...at least, if I am not too full from snacking on Mickey bars

Everything we had was declicous. Also, most of the pastries are on display in the tea room. You are able to see what your choices are. If there was something that catches your fancy, go for it! you only live once

I haven't done this, but love the look of it. My other half wants to do it as he says hopefully he will find a place to get a good cup of tea! He misses the coffee when in the UK< but does not miss the tea.

If you havenever had it and it is authentic then I would recommend the Sally Lunn, it is very morish.

I asked because the review I read online said this is adult only and to please not ruin it by bringing childern. when I made the ressie I wasn't told it was adult only but she seemed surprised when I said the childern were 2 & 17(DNeice). So I got a little scared about bringing DD. Now I will just look forward to this and think about all my options for a real tea party with DD.

I read that review too! I wouldn't worry about it too much. There are a lot of parents out there who do not control their children. Those are the children I wouldn't like to see in this restaurant. However, a little girl who is well-behaved and experience her first grown-up tea, no problem! Go, have fun, and take lots of pictures.
