I am thinking of taking my mom to the Garden View Lounge Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian. Does anyone know what the attire is? Are dressy shorts acceptable or do we need skirts/slacks?

We will be travelling at the end of July.

Thanks so much!

While they don't have a dress code per se, I've had tea there four or five times, and the one time I wore dressy shorts and a blouse, I felt underdressed.

Normally I wear slacks or nicer capris and a bouse or a sun dress, and that seems about right.

You'll see lots of birthday celebrations and small bridal showers where the attendees are wearing dresses. I like to take my cue from that perspective. :)

You don't need to dress up, just casual clothes are fine. When I went no one was dressed up, everyone was just in their regular clothes.

I wore a sweater and shorts and my mom wore capri's and we were fine. No one else was dressed up either.

We've been there when there was a whole group of "red hat ladies" all dressed to the nines with hats and feather boas and we've been there when the guests were obvoiusly fresh from the parks in shorts and t-shirts. It all comes down to what you're comfortable with. It's usually cool enough for a sweater, though. Have a scone for me - YUM :earsgirl:

We saw everything from jeans and a nice shirt, to nice shorts/top, dresses, nice pantsuits, etc.

When we went, I wore capris and a nice top, hubby wore one of his nicer short outfits.

The tea/whole experience is excellent.

although my normal park wear is capris and a blouse and that is what i was wearing, there were many others there in shorts and tshirts.

i was not dressed up at all when i was there
my mom and i did this 3 or 4 times in Sept 2004 and the 1st time we went we looked like crap
we had a 1pm ps and we had flown in at 1030 gone to WL checked in and dropped our stuff and drove over
it was amazing
next time i go there with my mom i would stay at the GF as we ate all out of park meals there
I do wish i had grabbed an alice refill mug though
