Can anyone tell me more about the afternoon tea at the GF? I am thinking of taking my mom to it and then scheduling a spa appointment following. Does an hour seem like long enough for the tea?

Hi!

My mom & I LOVE the afternoon tea!

The Garden View Lounge is open from 2pm to 4:30pm.

An hour is definitely enough for tea.

There are several options available but the most popular is "The Grand Tea"

The classic English tradition of Afternoon Tea, Grand Floridian style. We offer you a variety of tea sandwiches, scones and jam tarts, followed by your choice of our freshly baked tea pastries or English trifle, accompanied by a glass of Domaine Ste.-Michelle sparkling wine and your choice of tea. $25.50 per guest (Example of tea sandwiches may include: cucumber with watercress, shrimp salad with dill, chicken salad with almonds, grilled pear with gorgonzola, and egg salad, each on a different bread.)

There are about 20 varieties of tea to choose from, some blended specifically for the Lounge.

1) You should enjoy the Afternoon Tea.
2) We usually spend about 1½ hours, or so.
3) You could do one hour, but it wouldn't feel the same.
4) The Afternoon Tea gets the recommendation of TheRustyScupper.

NOTE: The tea is flavorful, but they only serve Broken Orange Pekoe or Fannings. Someone who brews their own tea might be disappointed, but the vast majority of the folks will be pleased at the quality.

Yes you do need reservations. My mom & I loved this and can not wait to do this again. We were there about 2 hours and loved the food and the whole experience.

I really want to do this with my mom and my DD. In another year or so, I think DD will be old enough to enjoy it and will definitely try it!

Is this more of a just girl thing? Or could my dh(when were there) and I do it togeher? lol Hope I dont sound like a loon!

Another question for Tea Time lovers...

Is this enough food to have in place of lunch. I mean is there enough to fill you up and not eat again until dinner, or is it very tiny sample-sized portions just to give a taste of this and that??

Thanks!

I have this booked for our upcoming trip for myself and my two older daughters, ages 10 & 7. Does anyone know or have an opinion on the childrens menu? I know my girls will both want the strawberries and cream, but I don't think they get this with the kids selection.

I also have the afternoon tea booked for next weekend with my mom and daughter. The pictures are so beautiful! We are looking forward to this experience!! :goodvibes

I've been with my friend and her DH. I have always at least one man there when I go.

Very filling!

This is a great thread! My DW and DD9 would like to go for a "girls only" afternoon tea. We have plans to eat at The Wave for lunch. Do you think they can have a late afternoon tea and it serve as dinner for them?

Thanks in advance!

I was wondering the same thing. My girls will be 14 and 10 the next time we go. My 14 year old is very picky and I won't want to waste my money, but I think it would be fun for us to do for just us girls.
Does anyone know if there are more kid friendly choices?
Thanks!!

We (DD, DH and I) were finally able to snag a ressie during our Christmas trip - for 5pm! I was concerned that the advertised hours meant we'd be shuffled out as quickly as possible. Not true at all!! We spent almost an hour and a half and we were not the last patrons to leave.

DH had the "Gentlemen's Tea" - sandwiches and all - and loved it. DD and I had the "Sally Lunn Tea" - and we were so lucky to get this because our server was pretty sure they were out of the Sally Lunn bread, which I had really wanted after having it the last time we went to Wiliamsburg, but they found a loaf! Yummy yummy yummy. We all had different teas, and our own pots.

One note - the trifle is apparently alcoholic as DD-15 was not allowed to order it and had to be "content" with either pastries or strawberries. :confused3 I just had to have the trifle after that - didn't smell or taste any alcohol at all. But DH said he "thought" he could smell a little bit of "something". Yeah right.

Lovely meal but a bit pricey ($70. including tip) but we used it as our "lunch" because we were going to end up at Downtown Disney for an 8:45pm dinner at Raglan Road. We definitely did not leave hungry!

Check out the menu at Allears.net. You can order ala cart. That is what we did for my 12 DD this past December. My DH enjoyed our time here. We all agreed we are going to do it again our next trip.

Can anyone who's been to the tea let me know what the tea sandwiches consist of?

The menu's I've found don't specify. I'm really wanting to try the Garden tea on my solo trip to Disney in December, but afraid that I won't like the food. I don't eat mayo, and my concern is that most of the sandwiches include mayo. Are there any non-mayo options?

Thank you for the info. I will check out the menu at allears.

Thank you for all the great info. My mom and I will be enjoying tea and massages while the guys are out fishing.
