What's it like, and when's a good time to go? (I'll be in WDW from Aug. 28th to Sept. 4th, so I'm assuming there'll be a daily thundershower at some point every day, so maybe we could go around whatever time that may be).

Also, particularly for WDW fans of the UK - if you've been to Afternoon Tea, how are their scones with Devonshire cream? ...I've spent lots of time in England and absolutely ADORE going for cream tea while I'm there - so just the fact that Afternoon Tea has scones with Devonshire cream is the main reason I'm going!

Thanks :)

I took my step-mother to tea in December '05. It was wonderful. I was absolutely stuffed when I was done. I've never been to any other tea, so not sure how to compare.

It started with five different types of sandwiches - loved the pear and gorgonzola. There was also an onion tartlet which was wonderful. Second course was scones and jam. Then you had a choice of desserts. I had the trifle which was very very good. My step-mother had a fruit tart and a chocolate eclaire.

I would definitely go back. It took a lot more time than I had expected. I think we were there for an hour and a half to two hours. Can't wait until DD is old enough to enjoy it.

I highly recommend it! There are some pictures on the food porn thread, but I don't know how to link.

We had the tea last October. It's so relaxing after walking around the park all morning. We had an ADR at 2:00. The food is good. My friend and I both had the Buckingham. If you don't like one of the tea sandwiches, they will bring you a different one. I had a fruit tart and the scones are delicious. We both had the trifle. It was the best! Afterwards, we listened to piano music in the lobby. Have a great time!!

I just posted pictures here: Dining pics

We really enjoyed it! I had a 3:40 ADR. We had to wait to be seated. I think I would try an earlier ADR next time. I think they start at 2:00.

Sorry for my not so great review but I have to be honest.

I took my sister in law and two girls (10 and 8) last year for a special treat. The girls got all dressed up for the occasion, they looked so cute in hats and gloves. The red hat society was there at the time so my girls were chuckling alot. It was a very slow meal for the girls but I enjoyed the pace. The tea was wonderful, it was the food that wasn't great. The sandwiches were just o.k. I did eat most of them but I didnt care for any of them in particular. The scones were a bit hard and the tarts were just average. The girls picked dessert off the tray and my daughter found a fly in one of hers-YUCK-! I had the trifle and it was really good. I have had better teas in my own home town and will not be going back. I love the GF and visit everytime. The boys went to the GF Cafe and had a wonderful meal, that's where I will go next time!

Whoa! a fly?! What did you do? Did you say something to the server? :scared:

Thanks for asking this question. My mother, sister and I are going to eat here at 4:00 the day of MVMCP. It's our arrival day and it seemed like a relaxing way to begin the evening.

We will be there Aug 27- Sept 3. Perhaps we will be having tea at the same time. :wave2: We both enjoyed the tea and the food in the past. Too bad not even Disney can control a wayword fly and it might even rain every afternoon. We won't be letting either ruin a perfect afternoon tea. IIR the Devonshire cream was very good! :goodvibes

Hubby and I love the tea. We thought everything was delicious, however as far as the scones, we have found that what people consider a scone varies widely depending on where they are purchased. The scones are cream were very good at the afternoon tea.

Oh, and don't worry about the rain.

This is a really stupid question, so forgive me, but are there other options besides tea to drink? I love attending an English style 'tea' for the sandwhiches, scones, etc. But I don't drink tea (hate the stuff!). Can you order coffee or other drinks options as your beverage with the food that is served?

Also, do couples sometimes attend together, or is it strictly a ladies-only type of occasion? It's always just my husband and me, and I'm sure he'd enjoy a traditional English tea as he spent much time in England when he was growing up (his mother is English). But would a man feel out of place in this setting?

The menu on allearsnet.com shows coffee, hot chocolate, milk, soda, juice....

We saw lots of men there.

I'm not a tea drinker either. I love the raspberry herbal tea. It is served in a french press, not the porcelain tea pot. I think you can have it iced as well.

The Afternoon Tea is one of my favorite places to eat.

Enjoy

We have done this every trip since they stopped serving afternoon tea at the Rose & Crown. They have a "tea" for kids that is choco milk but my kids always enjoyed this even my son when he was 16. We either go 1st thing as a late lunch or very late as dinner since it is so much food! My daughter & I have always worn dresses here. One time we wandered over to the beach to swing in those canopied swings & got to watch them set up for a wedding.

My sister, cousin and daughter did the tea on our trip in February 05. We had a ADR (PS at that time) for 3:20 and there was only one other couple in the restaurant.

We loved almost everything about it! The sandwiches were... let's just say, not what we were expecting, but the pear one was very good. My dd had pb&j... should have gone along with her. We absolutely loved the strawberries and devonshire cream. I even came home and looked up a recipe, but you almost have to get the milk straight from the cow... I liked the cream, but not enough to get up close and personal with a heifer...

Anyways, the experience was wonderful and I know you'll enjoy it!
