Has anyone done afternoon tea at GF? Did they give you a pot or a cup of tea for the price? Did you do a la carte or a package? Did you have to make a ADR for it?

My DH and I were thinking this might be nice to do when we go in December since GF will be nicely decorated but I wanted more info since I don't know too much except what I saw on the Hotel Show with Samantha Brown. I read the menu listing on allears.net but it doesn't actually tell me how the experience itself was or if I have to make an ADR for it.

We love the tea. They give you a pot of tea. And i believe the refills are free as well. The strawberries are great and the Cuke sandwiches are nice too. We always go to tea on vacation and this one is really nice.

You do need an ADR and just a heads up we went after we watched the Samantha Brown show last year and I think they did extra stuff for the show as we were not that impressed with the decorations.

Have done the tea twice and enjoyed it both times. Definitely make an ADR. Even with an ADR we had to wait 30 minutes for a table during our last stay. We have always ordered one of the packages and shared each other's goodies. Enjoy!

The Garden View Lounge is open from 2-6pm, and you really should make an ADR for it. When I didn't make an ADR on a solo trip a couple of years ago, I went to the GF on a whim. Because I didn't have an ADR, they couldn't seat me for about an hour. I was completely fine with that, and I had a book with me to keep me occupied. You should be fine if you make an ADR.

I go to the tea as a late lunch, buying one of the packages. I usually go
for the Grand Tea, which includes sparkling wine. (You can order this and
request to hold the wine if you don't care to have it.) It's a nice light meal.
Tea is served in individual teapots, with loose tea leaves. Each place setting has a tea strainer provided with the teacup. And the servers will refill the pot with more hot water.

If you go there with a time constraint, you can tell your server. But in general, I find that they don't try to hurry you out of there.

I have done the afternoon tea with my 3 dd's and it was really nice. We made ADR's and we each got one of the full tea services they provide. I got the Buckingham Palace tea and the girls got the Mrs. Pott's tea. You will receive a full pot of the tea of your choice.

We enjoyed it very much. We will be going again in November and I was thinking the same thing about it being nicely decorated and all.

We did the tea this past March for the first time. I drug my husband kicking and screaming with myself and our DD. When we were making our notes about what we want to do and not do for next March's trip i mentioned well i guess we can pass on the tea this time. HE was the one that said "I wouldn't mind doing that again but if you tell anyone I go to this I will have to deny it!" So it is on the books for next year!

Go...enjoy. I think you will like it. We did it the morning we had a TS breakfast at 9:30 and scheduled the tea for 3:30. Then we had dinner at the California Grill that night at 9pm. So it worked as a lunch for us. It was wonderful. I highly recommend it. The Sally Lunn is wonderful. We did some other things to and it was great!

I've been 2 or 3 times and really enjoy it. I usually get the Buckingham Palace but sometimes I am stuffed when it is over.

Last time, I just ordered a pot of tea and a plate of scones. It was much cheaper and REALLY all I wanted.
