Afternoon break from DL while staying at HOJO

My DH and i even took breaks from DL and DCA and we have no kids we would either go in the garden pool as Castaway Cove was too busy ( we wanted the hot tub) or just watched TV and recharged our batteries also a good excuse to do shopping and take it back straight away

1-4 are good times to take brakes at least in our book. some times noon

We followed the advice in the Unofficial Guide and made our kids (9 and 6) walk to school several times a week in the months leading up to our trip.

They moaned a bit, but the pay off was they breezed through the long days at the park and the walk from HOJO to the park twice a day - not a single 'my legs are tired' moan the whole 6 days we were there!

We took a break anytime from 1pm to 4pm, returning after we had an early dinner, for fireworks and more rides.

Our boys loved Castaway Cove - even though there were some cool days in April we couldn't keep them away from it. They would warm up in the spa pool and then get back on those water slides...and as for the dump bucket....!!

Too funny! We're doing the same thing by having the kids walk more. We're hiking for about an hour on the weekends and taking long walks during the week too (never less than 45 minutes) I'm hoping that their endurance will be great by the trip and think that the walk to/from HOJO is easier than all the walking that we've been doing.

Boy sounds like everyone with so much walking is going to become one lean mean walkin' machine! I too need to restart my walking regime. For a skirt that just fit last year, well a few weeks ago, OMG!! :faint: I could only zip it half way! Geese! And big sigh too! Maybe if I wear a long enough blouse?? Of course it would be nice to actually breath when I sit down! (Another big sigh)

The first time we stayed at the Hojo my kids were 9 and 7. The walk was fine. I mean at night it seemed long but the larger rooms made up for it! We took a break every day of our five night stay.

As you can see by my sig, we are staying at the BWPPI this time, because of the location. Its just for two nights (and one of those nights for a late arrival) before we head to the DLH so I am fine with that. I love the location, the rooms are nice, we like the mini suites and the free breakfast is convenient. All that said, if I was going to do a total offsite stay, I'd pick Hojo. The pool area at BWPPI is so lackluster whereas the Hojo has the new pirate pool plus the quiet pool. And the grounds at Hojo are lovely. BWPPI grounds are tub of flowers and a big parking lot that is crammed with cars!

So for me, if I am going to stay more than a night or two, I'd pick Hojo. It does stink to walk by four or five motels that are closer but again, the large sized rooms, grounds, and pool areas make up for it. If all you want to do is sleep and shower, close is better. But if you want to spend much time at the hotel in or out of the room, Hojo is better than any of the others in my book.

Have a great trip!

Oh, I'll also add that I have a little trick I used to do for my kids when they were younger and had long walks at WDW or DL back to our resort or to the bus stops after a long day. I'd give them a piece of gum! They don't get much gum at all, so I'd whip out that piece of bubble gum and they'd be happily chewing and trying to blow bubbles and forget how tired they were!

Yep, we walked back to Hojo's every single afternoon for some much-needed "no sensory stimulation" time. I thought the walk was no big deal at all and my oldest who had to walk it himself agreed.
