Hi,

Does anyone know if the GF's afternoon tea is included under the DDP? I'd really like to try that , and would even pay OOP if anyone has good reviews of it. :)

Thanks :goodvibes

It is not covered under the DDP. We went and really enjoyed it. It's on our itinerary for November and I can't wait.

I chose the Buckingham Palace Tea. It comes with a pot of tea, your choice, tea sandwiches, scones with devonshire (Too die for), I think an onion tart and a raspberry tart too. Then you get to choose dessert. I chose the strawberries and cream. You can choose other things if you don't care for stawberries. My DD's all had the Mrs. Pott's Tea with the Magical Tea (chocolate milk).

We all enjoyed it so much and it was a great experience. The girls talk about it all the time and can't wait to go back again.

It's a lovely, relaxing mid-afternoon break from the parks! And the onion tartlets on the Buckingham Palace tea are absolutely to die for!

I was thinking about doing this but can you wear whatever you had on in the parks or do people get dressed up for it? It sounds like a fun break and something we have never done.

We absolutely love the tea room! We are a big tea family anyway and it's just awesome that we can have that experience at DW! It's a nice relaxing break in the middle of our week at DW. We just wore what we would have worn into the parks, but some of the other people in the room looked more like business casual. Our teenage daughter didn't like any of the tea sandwiches, so she has said that she will order the Sally Lunn bread and apricot preserves next time. The strawberries and cream were absolutely delish, and they had lots of cream on them! Yummy! Oh, this is making me hungry for tea and scones!

The afternoon tea might be nice for me and DD. Anyone know how much it is? Or maybe DH and I could go and book the kids at the Wonderland Tea party.

The price is between about $15-$30 per person. Some of the offerings include wine, but we don't drink so we were able to substitute something else for the wine. If you have never had tea sandwiches before, be aware that they aren't like regular sandwiches that you would make at home. Our dd decided she didn't really like a formal tea because she hated the sandwiches.

You can see the menu here: Garden View Lounge Afternoon Tea Menu

What did they allow you to substitute for the wine? I dont drink when I have my daughter with me and I don't think I would in the middle of the day anyway. Do you have to make ADRs for here?

The menu lists Martinelli's Sparkling Cider for 5.50 a glass, so I'm sure they would let you substitute that in lieu of the sparkling wine which is normally 7.50 a glass. Another option would be to order the Buckingham Palace or the Sally Lunn tea, which do not include a glass of wine. They are less expensive, as well.

And yes, ADR's are very important -- the tea seating is extremely limited, only 2 pm - 4 pm, I believe.

My daughter and I have made a tradition of going to tea at the Grand Floridian since she was quite young. She's a bit of a picky eater and I never had any trouble substituting the sandwiches she didn't like with ones she would eat. She's 19 now and this year we're going with my mom. It's a great girly afternoon!
