Help me! I am to believe that my limo time will run out after a wedding, cake cutting and dinner, so I was considering getting a towncar (only 21.00) to pick us up after the dinner. When I told my fiance, he just kinda rolled his eyes and said "you really want to feel like a princess don't you" LOL! He's ridiculous! Anyway, I wondered if it was really necessary. What modes of transportation are there from the boardwalk to Port Orleans FQ? Would it be dorky to ride something else? Our whole family will be riding other transportation. But, I just thought it would be nice to be whisked away to our room.
Tell me what you all think. Really, at this point I could go either way. I am going to send in my planning packet in a week or so.
Thanks in advance! :flower1:

I vote for paying the $21 for the towncar. You could also extend your limo time (I think it's another $75 or so, but I could be wrong). You're going to be wearing a wedding dress; you don't want to ride public Disney transportation in that!

Good for you for planning ahead:) Here's what happened to us... Although DH's family knew about the wedding since 11/01 (wedding was 2/03), they didn't make reservations until a week prior. Even that wasn't too definite. In the back of my mind I didn't think they were coming, and so didn't even consider that they (and we) would have no transportation back from the GF-POR.

My parents, aunt and uncle had a rental car that they'd dropped at the GF and I guess I'd assumed they'd take us, then themselves back afterwards. That was plan 1. Well DH's family changed all that and a day before I called Lynn in a panic asking to set up 2 towncars for us. So after tea, there we sat, me in tears, the GF valet calling Mears - someone had screwed up (I think Mears) and sent the towncars at the wrong time so they were telling us we'd be charged and no towncars. DH's family ended up taking Disney transportation (they weren't too dressed up anyway) and one extremely nice CM drove us back to POR during his break. We didn't get charged for the towncars in the end either...

This was the absolute worst point of the wedding day, especially since I plan so thouroughly usually. So I would definitely plan ahead, get the towncar, and save yourself the hassle. It's worth it for $21 and the saved worry about your dress and everything else. If it were me I'd double check the time for the towncar though, just in case;)

We were in the same boat as you and did not want to rush our day just so we could use our free limo. We went ahead and used the limo in shifts to bring ourselves and two families to California Grill from Boardwalk after the ceremony and then let the guy go from there. When we left CG, we had four towncars waiting, one for each family to go their respected resorts, as a gift to them. It was neat to walk out and see four towncars lined up and waiting for us. We also made sure to hand each family member money for the tips so they didn't have to pay anything out of pocket.
One thing that was funny is we wanted the towncars for everyone, but everyone ended up coming back to SSR with us anyway for personal vehicles and forgotten items. We told them they could just bus to DTD the next day and walk over, but none of them wanted to deal with the DTD buses. lol.

I was curious if you are getting the towncar through Disney or through another company. This is something that I might consider for getting my liscence.

The $21 is through Disney and is for one-way only on Disney property.
