Hi Everyone,

I am still fairly new to this forum but am already completely addicted! I am getting married at WDW on January 21, 2010. I was wondering what people planned for after their reception ends? We are doing the dessert party and UK lower and will have to be outta there by around 9:30ish but I know my guests will just be getting started :) Normally finding a place to go would be easy but the challenging part is this my little sister will only be 20 and I am not willing to leave her behind while the rest of us party it up.

Any suggestions at all would be SO helpful because I am honestly at a loss.

Thanks in advance!

what we did was have our bus transport us back to our hotel, Coronado Springs and we all went to the rix lounge and have drinks and a dance. The place was empty so it was like we had rented it!

Congrats on getting your date and look forward to seeing all your plans

Pleasure Island might hopefully be re-opened by then. I am not sure if you can actually rent out any of the clubs but it could be a fun place to go. Previously there was only one club there that was 21 and up. I haven't heard anything about the new plans yet so I have no clue what will be there when it re-opens.

If you are looking to have more of a private space then I would plan to do something either at your hotel or close to it.

I don't think Pleasure Island is going to have clubs anymore. They are making it more family friendly.

One of the boardwalk clubs I think allows everyone in. I like the idea of going to your hotel bar and just hangging out.

Really??!!! Do you know any more about the plans?

They just opened a balloon thing, they're building a new stage (like the one at Citywalk) and are planning on opening 2 restaurants there by the end of the year.

If you want to rent out something for an after party, you could do a ballroom at the Boardwalk, or the Adventure's Club at DTD. But that all depends on your budget.

I was going to have the same issue for us after our DP...but now as it turns out, EPCOT is open 'till midnite for EMH!

My niece is the youngest guest and she's 19 and my MOH, so we're not leaving her behind!

I think Jellyroll's you have to be 21 to get in? So, without the EMH, we would have just gone back to the hotel and partied there.:rotfl:

Sorry I am not yet familiar with all the abbreviations... what is EMH?

Thanks for all the posts everyone! I don't mind doing the hotel thing either but I was looking for a different experience for my guests. I was so sad when Pleasure Island closed down because that would have been perfect.

I'm from Canada so I find it frustrating that my sister can't get in because she has been legal here for 2 years!

EMH is extra magic hours.

So now I am totally confused. I thought the adventurers club was shut down and considered to be part of pleasure island? Is it still there? Now just considered to be part of DTD? did it move?

The Adventurer's Club was shut down but is still being used for private parties. :thumbsup2

We had the bus drop those of us who still wanted to 'party down' at Downtown Disney, and we had a blast at Raglan's Road for the rest of the night.
Great pub atmosphere, and live music.

i know you have an under-ager, but we went to JR after our reception and had a blast!!! it was fun to kick back in jeans and tshirts after not breathing in the dress all day lol

We all called it a night! We were taken to the GF and the guests all went back to the POFQ where they must have had a drink in the bar!

We got married at the Yacht & Beach Club and went to Jellyrolls after the party. Some of the grandparents babysat the kids, but the majority of our wedding guests joined us.

After our dessert party the night before, most of us went over to the ESPN club. Since it's a restaurant, you might be able to bring the kids in as well.

We enquired about returning to our reception location after the fireworks but were told that once we go past the initial 4 hours that we'd have to meet food and beverage minimums etc all over again  Our guests will definitely be only getting started - weddings over here go on all night! :dance3: I think we might just go to one of the hotel bars or something and let people decide what they want to do.

Awesome suggestion. I'll look into this one for sure.

Thanks!:goodvibes

We booked one of the Grand Villas at the Boardwalk using DVC points.

We then used it as a "Hospitality Suite" the night before the wedding and for the "after party" when our reception was over.

We catered it ourselves with a few bags of snacks, some sodas and a basic bar set up.

It worked really well, and everyone loved the informal atmostphere of doing it that way.

If you're not a DVC member, see about renting points to do this kind of thing.

We are having the wedding limos for after the wedding & our wedding party & some close friends are all heading over to Jellyrolls. I am totally dancing on a piano in my wedding gown! Lots of our friends are staying at Caribbean beach so they can walk over and the limos can take us back to the Grand afterwards.
