After Illuminations Cruise back to POFQ?

A quick question....

I am taking an Illuminations Cruise on Saturday, Sept 11th.

My friend and I are staying at POFQ.

What is the best way for us to get back to POFQ after the cruise?

Should we walk back into Epcot (via International Gateway) and take a bus? Can we even get back into Epcot at that time?

Should we take a bus from Boardwalk to Downtown Disney and then switch to the POFQ bus?

Or can we take a boat to DD and then onto POFQ.

Doesn't the cruise take off from the YC dock? If it does, it will bring you back there and you could get a cab from The Boardwalk back to your hotel.

Or you could catch a bus from YC (or any of the hotels) to DD and then catch another bus to your hotel.

All depends on how fast and inexpensively you need to be back to POFQ.

I believe it says they either leave from YC or Boardwalk dock.

I would rather stick with Disney transportation. I don't want to pay for a taxi.

Doesn't the Boardwalk/YC have a boat that goes to DD?

Yes the YC and the Boardwalk have a bus that goes to DTD, once there you can then take a bus back to POFQ.
You might even be able to take the boat to MGM and get a POFQ bus from there, that might be faster. You could actually walk from the YC or the Boardwalk to MGM, sometimes that is faster than the boat.

I would take the bus to DD and then the boat aback to POFQ. If MGM happens to be open late that night you could take a boat to MGM and then a bus back to POFQ, but I think most nights by the time illumination cruise is over MGM will be closed.

Before you plan on that, check the hours of the boat service back to POFQ. It may end prior to the time you'll need it. (IIRC, it doesn't run very late into the evening). Of course, you can always take a us back to your resort from DD.

If it were me, I'd ask the IllumiNations cruise captain to let me off at the International Gateway after the cruise. (Our captain did this for the family we shared our cruise with last time). Then walk back through EPCOT and take the bus back. Even if you walk at a leisurely pace, you'll still get back to your resort sooner than if you waited for a bus to DD and then transferred to either the boat or another bus.

Carol - that is a great idea! It would be much faster than going to DD and then back to the resort.

I think that will probably what I will try and do.

If you don't want to walk through Epcot to get to the busses, The Captain may drop you off at MGM if you as him nicely and the busses are right there.

But again, you have to check the park operating hours. In September, I believe MGM closes well before IllumiNations even begins (at 9 pm). If that is the case, there won't be any buses still running to the resorts from MGM.

I believe you are right Carol. I think MGM closes at 8pm...

So we will walk through Epcot back to the bus there.

Last year we did the cruise and Capt Mike left us off at the International Gateway. Then we had a nice leisurely walk back to the monorail to get back to the Polynesian. But, you can just as easily do a bus to POFQ. I would do that rather than go to DD. Besides, it's a nice walk, if you walk slowly and just enjoy the sights.
