After-Hours, How Will It Change Crowds?

I cannot even pretend to be somewhat knowledgeable about Disneyworld so I'm calling all you experts.

One of our MK days is the April 28th, one of the chosen After Hours dates. While I know the price tag is high, there will still be a ton of people who shell out for the "event". How do you think this will affect crowds? Should I switch days? Leave the park early (we don't have hoppers)? Or just stick with my original plan?

Thanks for your help and advice!

Are they closing the Mk early so that they can let in more people and charge them a seperate admission price? I don't like the idea of 2 seperate admissions on the same day.
If hours are more at other parks, I'd go to another park where you don;t have to pay extra to stay.

I'm not sure how much the crowds will increase. Maybe they will between 7 and 10. Right now, MK on a party night is somewhat less crowded due to the early closure. On these ticket nights the park remains open, so there is no incentive to stay away.

The event is supposed to be pretty limited, so that is a plus for folks who are already in the park. I imagine that if I was paying that premium I round not go too early, maybe a late dinner in the park, but that's it.

WDW is supposedly limiting the number of tickets to this new "event" to 3000. I don't think it will have that much of an effect.

Yep. Keep your plans. Those three hours are going to pass so quickly and imagine all the beer, wine and 12 year old Scotch you can but with 150 bucks.

I love Disney and I would get park hoppers. I think they are essential unless you are only going one day! But 3 or more days definitely a hopper. I find they give flexibility.

It's been quoted in several threads in the Theme Parks forum but I don't know if that is an official WDW number. It seems pretty low to me considering MK has 10-20 times that capacity.

I've been staying up to date on all those threads and I'm pretty sure someone made that number up and tossed it out and now people are quoting it, which is not good since no one has any official idea.

There's no way to know that.

It's going to completely depend on how many party guests there are. If there are a few thousand, there won't be any appreciable effect. If it's really 3K, then the park will be pretty much deserted for that party. 3K is an extraordinarily small number of guests compared to MK capacity. But Disney isn't saying how many tickets it's selling, so we don't really know. It's also not known whether they will sell all the late night tickets they have available.

If it were my trip, with this being a new event most probably won't know about, and the supposed limited number of tickets, I'd keep my plans exactly as they are.

The most "official" thing I've seen regarding numbers is a quote from some travel agent info in one of the other threads where it stated that tickets will be VERY limited and specifically stated that it will be less than other hard ticket parties (but no specific numbers either on party tix or this event)

Yep, I'd be very wary of what limited means until reports from the first party.

Less than other hard ticket events could still be quite a lot, especially when considering that a lot of people attend the Halloween or Christmas parties and don't even go on any rides (like me) and some ride lines can still be quite long, mainly Peter Pan and 7D.

Well I feel sheepish...I SWEAR I looked. :o

I would keep your plans

Thank you for this very concise response!

Thanks! I had not even taken the number or tickets sold into account, I just started panicking. I also believe the 28th is one of the last options for the event so perhaps everyone's plans are solidified because we're so close and it will be even less who buy the tickets. Plus, giving Disney $250 AN HOUR for my family of 5 is hefty, hopefully others feel the same.

Seems to be the pattern of what happens with most new pieces of information around here lately....

Where is the 3,000 tickets coming from?
Orlando Sentinel reports that Disney is refusing to reveal how many tickets will be sold. That all but eliminates any possibility that the number would be 3,000. If the number were going to be that low, Disney would want everyone to know so that people would storm the box office to make sure they got a ticket. Indeed, if there was going to be any reasonable limit at all, you would think that Disney would want people to know so that they would act fast. The only reason I can think of for Disney not revealing the true number is if it is something like 25,000. At that point, the whole idea of "limited" becomes illusory and Disney would get called out on it. So by keeping the number a secret, we can assume that the number is actually so large that were it to be made known, there would be a groan instead of a cheer.
