After Hours Events - Ask Questions and Share Experiences Here

Not checking at snack stands gets even worse when you find out they run out of items at some stands later in the night.
I’d be pretty bummed too!
Mine Train was very strict later in the night and our kids said Tron was too. So it's' not all bad but it needs to improve for us to pay for another one of these.
Yes, it’s quite expensive. I hope that we find it’s worth the cost, but this whole not checking wristbands/crowded hub has me concerned. Hoping that they are getting a handle on it based on @georgina s report from last week!

Oh it's still worth it at least once I think, especially if you like to do the rides, but whether that continues as word keep spreading that you can stay and play for free is yet to be seen. I would like to think that people would behave better but common sense tells me I'm dreaming.

These cost more than the Halloween and Xmas parties but at those they boot you right away if you don't have a wristband. Why the double standard I don't know.

That makes sense if they are checking bands at the hub. I was under the impression that bands were only checked at rides and for snacks. They at the very least should clear the Hub of non wristband holders.

I appreciate you and others calling them out. It’ll just be me with the two kids, and I don’t know if I would have the guts unless others joined in. I hope it doesn’t come to that, but I also don’t want set an example for my kids that’s it’s okay for them to cheat the system!

Wow! Well there ya go. People know and are purposefully staying because Disney isn’t checking.

My hope is that if we keep sharing and reporting our experiences they will make a change.
Well hopefully posting that people are attending without paying won’t increase number of those doing this.

Did the AH event on the 17th sell out? Wait times seemed pretty low for most of the night when I was checking the app. I'm thinking about purchases tickets for the event on 4/7 and want to get a realistic gauge for about what the wait times will look like. Was anyone there on 3/17? What was the feel like?
Mixed bag. I got in at 7, Jungle Cruise had a 40 minute wait but Pirates was short, HM short, Tiana was also short but it was cool evening. I wore a raincoat over a fleece jacket and got quite wet.

When the party started Space Mtn had a longish wait, maybe 25? After Enchantment, Peter Pan and Pooh were short, 7Dwarfs was 25. Got in the Tron line at 12:17 and got off the ride at 12:56
That’s very good news! I’m glad that you all didn’t have to deal with a crowded Hub. Did you happen to notice if they were checking wristbands to enter that area?
No one checked mine, I got off the People Mover right at 11 and just walked into the hub. Lots of empty space.

I now have my tickets for after hours at MK on 4/28 and HS 4/30! I plan to book Tron and Mine Train LL at MK and multi pass at HS (I probably won’t get ROTR unless I get to that day and have noticed during my trip that single rider isn’t good enough). I plan to ride Tron and Space Mountain as much as possible during MK AH and TOT, RNRC, ROTR, and maybe SDD for HS AH. I will be sure to report my experiences and of course I will stock up on popcorn 😂

I'll be at both of those After Hours as well! 😍 4/30 is my birthday - looking forward to a fun night and lots of popcorn 🍿

@grahampb are you staying on property? If so, please report this in your survey. They'll never change if we don't speak up. :mic:
I went to an AH at MK awhile back when they were using lanyards you wore around your neck instead of the wristbands. I saw a group of young people who were sharing a single lanyard. I was sitting on a stone wall near them so could hear their conversation when the one with the lanyard handed it to another in their group and they walked over to the stand and came back wiTh an armful of drinks and Mickey bars. I took photos and a little video and went right to the guest services and showed them. One of the CMs just laughed and another one told they would look into it….I expected them to use their iPad to copy what I was showing them and come back to the area where the group was still stationed. My friend was keeping an eye on them and letting me know they were still sitting there and taking turns using the lanyard to ride. No one from guest services went back with so when I got back to my friend she had seen a few cast members walking past and stopped them and pointed to the people and they did go over and appeared to be asking them to leave but didn’t actually escort them out so who knows whether they actually left. We definitely invested too much time worrying about it🤷🏻‍♀️ As I’ve posted before I have seen quite a few people without wristbands getting free snacks but most rides have definitely been checking for wristbands and as you enter into different sections of park there are usually CMs spread out and checking for wristbands.

Birthday twins! Happy early birthday!
Happy early birthday to you as well! Have so much fun at that AH!

We come in August for our 25th anniversary. Judging from operating hours that Touring Plans has listed, we think we will be buying Halloween party tickets for the day of our anniversary 🥰. Touring plans has 8/26 and 8/29 - Magic Kingdom closing at 6. We also plan on hitting up the Hollywood studios after hours while there. So excited!

I was at a MK AH in January and don’t remember seeing anyone in the park without a bracelet. I don’t recall anyone specifically asking to see our bands but you could pretty much see them without asking, so maybe that’s what they were doing, just looking and noticing them. They did ask to see it when we were getting our “free” snacks, which incidentally was the longest line we waited in all night. It was absolutely magical walking around an empty park. It was just DH and me so we didn’t do any of the super big rides, the longest line we had for rides was Peter Pan at about maybe 10 minutes. But it was awesome getting to see the effects they have in the standby line, because we’re always in the LL queue for that ride and never get to see them. We’ll be doing this each trip from now on.

Aww!! Happy Anniversary to you!! Hope you have a great time in Disneyland. We've been to WDW several times, but never Disneyland!

Thank you! I hope you get to go someday! I bet you would love it. I’ve been to DL a lot more so WDW can feel overwhelming for me but I’m excited to be going. I haven’t been in 10 years. My oldest daughter and I have a quick trip, just the two of us. We have tickets to HS and MK AH. We will be sure to report back on how it goes. We only have three days there so it’s going to go fast!

I would go to these before COVID when they were free, but will never pay $180 for the privilege. Just another way to pick your pocket while at Disney.

Not sure when you were there last, but they were doing paid after hours events before covid. I use it in place of a day ticket to MK, price is comparable, and I can get a lot done in AH.

Extra Magic Hours (now called extended evening hours, which is still a thing) is different from Disney After Hours. Extended evening hours are for all resort guests at no extra charge. Because it’s open to all resort guests the lines aren’t necessarily all that much shorter. Disney After Hours is a separately ticketed event on different nights that’s open to everyone, including those who aren’t paying an arm and a leg to stay on site (and these events can sell out). I guess it just depends on what you’re willing to/want to pay for, but personally I find paying for Disney After Hours over paying to stay is much more cost effective and I’m able to get on a lot more rides
