After EE, then what?

There seems to be pretty consistent advice about how to tackle EE, but what about after that? Where do most of you head, and what should the first FP be? I'm going Thurs - Sat of this week, so no FP for Indy. Should we try to do that right after EE or first thing on a different day?

Guess it depends on your priorities. For me I grab a FP when the park opens - usually for Space Mtn. Then it is ride other slow loaders. That would mean rides such as:

StoryBookLand Canal Boats
Astro Orbiters
Casey Jr RR

Other rides whose lines build faster I try to hit:

Jungle Cruise
Star Tours
Autopia (has FP but I do not like their FPs because it is too slow thru FP return)

We usually save POTC, HM and IASW for a couple hours as these are high capacity rides whose lines build very slowly.

Well I generally grab a fastpass for Space Mountain and then like Hydroguy ride anything in Fantasyland I want to ride that isn't open during EE. Then I take the Big Thunder Trail into Frontierland and ride BTMRR, usually 2-4 times with no wait. By this time I can generally get another fastpass for something, so I grab one for either Indy or Splash Mountain. Then I generally will head into DCA once DL starts packing them in. I just make sure I have fastpassed all I can at DL before I leave. That way I have thing to ride when I come back to DL and begin the process of fastpassing all over again. And I also save Pirates and Haunted Mansion and IASW for later in the day. Those lines never seem to get that bad.

Because Indy will not have fp while you are there, I would make it a point to ride it early in the day. I would make it one of the first things you ride after EE, or do it first on a non EE day. The lines will get long for it.

Good point, I forgot about that. I will also add that I was at Disneyland last year when the Indy fastpass machines were down (different reason, in this case for the POTC movie premier) and I can tell you that will make Space Mountain and Splash Mountain fastpasses go that much quicker. So definitely do ride Indy first thing, then make sure you get a Space Mountain fastpass very early on as well. They were often gone very early in the afternoon or even late morning on the weekends in particular.

oh my goodness, isn't that the truth? I wish I knew that for our first trip in '05. Thought having a FP for that ride was some kind of big deal, then it took a million years to get through it. And then DS refused to sit on the seat, and they refused to let us go with DS sitting on my lap, so I had to do a walk of shame with DS, while DH rode.

Amy brings up a good point. FP for other rides will run out ealier. Add to that the splash will be down- and it doesnt leave a whole lot of rides with FP in DL! I would get a space FP, then head to Indy.

Oh my, I forgot about Splash being down too! That will definitely make Space Mountain fp's go quickly.

Hey Linda, aren't you about to leave for DL? Have a great time you lucky lady! :yay:

Thanks for all the help, everyone! I'm feeling a bit stressed reading about the crowds expected this weekend, but all your tips will surely help. At least we'll miss Sunday. I'm hoping we can crank through lots on Thurs due to EE and take the pressure off the other days. We'll probably do Indy immediately after EE (well, after picking up a FP for another ride) or on Sat. Friday is MTTM, so there would be big lines by the time we got there. I've gotta keep reminding myself that we'll be at Disneyland, so it's all good! :)

What's MTTM?

labigit, it looks like you have a good plan. I assume that you have read hydroguy's rules (& you know that you need to get FP's early & often :) ). Since it will be crowded & it's probable that the Indy FP will be down (along with Splash being down), it means that the remaining FP rides will be at even more of a premium (& will run out earlier).

After "doing" EE, I would definitely pick up a SM FP then head directly to Indy. What you do after that would be a good topic of discussion (back to fantasyland & toontown, head over to DCA or stay on the "left side of the park" & do Pirates, Jungle Cruise & HM (probably what i'd do)....whatever works for you and your family....

BUT.... I would keep that Space Mtn return time in mind & immediatly at that time, I would pick up a Big Mtn Railroad FP (or Buzz) and also a Roger Rabbit FP as early as possible (so you have them for the evening).

:)
