After eating at Boma...

Absolutely, take the time to look around the resort, it is beautiful, and don't forget the gift store, they have some very interesting pieces.

The AKL CM's are so friendly!

When we ate at Boma last year, we got there early & walked around the resort to look at the animals & admire the pool & scenery. Before we did so, I checked in at the ADR podium at Boma & asked if it would be okay for us to walk around, and the CM was like "Absolutely! Make yourself at home."

At one point during our stroll, I had stopped our 2 children in front of a viewing spot w/ some giraffes to take their picture. The CM standing nearby asked, "Would you like me to take a picture of your whole family?" I said sure, and the pic turned out to be one of the only pics I have w/ me in it!

Of all the resorts that we have toured, and we have toured them all, I have found the CMs at AKL to be the most helpful and friendly. I can't explain it. I know that many have gone out of their way to be helpful or informative on every trip over there...and we are just eating at Boma, not staying there!!! I just love those CMs.

Boma experience, you need to walk about the resort, view the animals from the various view sites and be sure to hit the gift shop (if to do nothing more than just look around). All of this, compined with the incredible food from Boma, can really make a day or even an entire trip!

I am planning our first dinner at Boma for October. I was thinking we would do this on the day we visit AK, right after park closing. So...if AK usually closes at 5:00, and then we eat around 6:00, would it be too dark to walk around and see any animals?

If so, I suppose we could make ADR's for a little later, like around 7:00. That would give us plenty of time to get from AK to AKL and some time to walk around and see some animals before dinner.

What do you guys think?

We always arrive early for our ADR's so as to check out the AKL first or if we run late we do it later. It is usually the highlight of our trip!! My DH loves both AKL and Boma!!

I'd either eat later or plan on leaving the AK earlier. It will be too dark to see animals by the time you leave Boma if you eat at 6:00 - at least to see them well - in October.

I'm not sure if they do it every night, but they do have night vision goggles and you can see the animals even when it's dark with those (and they are neat to look through). We got to AKL a little before 5 last week and it was still light to look around. You would probably be ok in October if you get there at 5:30 and look at the animals before dinner--aren't they moving the start time for standard time to November this year, in which case it would still be light at 6PM? Maybe bump your dinner ressies back a little--6:30 maybe?

Wow....that's pretty cool. I've always wanted to use night vision goggles! We will be there mid-October which is before Daylight Savings time ends anyway, so it should be pretty light out.
