:confused3 This is our first trip to So California so we need lots of info!

We will be flying into San Diego on a Friday morning and sailing on Radiance of the Seas for 5 nights!pirate:
We will be off the ship on the morning of Wed Oct 14th and plan to pick up our rental car and head to Annaheim and check in at HOJO that day.:goodvibes

So Do you think we will be able to get to the parks that day by noon if we can be off the ship by 9:00am??? Is that pushing it a bit???? Will traffice be ok after 9:00 am heading that direction??? We are thinking of carrying our own luggage off the ship so we can disembark faster. So we may be off sooner that 9:00am?

We are staying 3 nights at HOJO and going to spend a day at each park and then one day too just see the sites like Laguna beach or possibly Hollywood.
I was thinking California Adventure for that Wednesday we arrive and then DL Thursday and save Friday for site seeing??? Sound like a plan???

We head back to San Diego on Saturday. How is traffic on the weekends?
Thanks for any advice???

Michelle

I live near DL and go to San Diego often (grew up there). Give yourself a couple of hours on a Saturday to get down there. On a Sunday morning you can get there in an hour and a half, but Saturdays are hit and miss. Sometimes I have been caught in "going to San Diego for the weekend" traffic. Worst case scenario: 2 and half hours. Best case: 1 and a half.

Assuming you can be in your rental car and on the road by 10:00, you should easily be up in the Disneyland area by noon - maybe in the parks depending on if you go straight to Disneyland parking or stop at wherever you will be staying first.

The drive from the San Diego Harbor to Disneyland should take about 1:30-1:45 with little/no traffic.

But as oc_tony said, traffic going south can be really bad on Saturdays. You want to leave Orange County by 10:00 in the morning if you can. Or wait until 5:00 in the afternoon to drive down.
