My wife complained about the rocking of the ship but I told her that it was smoother than the ship that I was on in the Navy (and I was on a carrier). After all, what is the point of being on a ship if it feels like you are on dry land? Don’t look at the water until you get your sea legs.

It took me amost 3 days to stop rocking after our last cruise, and we had very calm waters!! I kinda like the feeling! I think it's part of the cruising experience!! I know. I am weird!!!

You are not weird. I miss that rocking motion when we leave the ship. At night it is like settling into a cradle and being rocked to sleep. And we had some relatively rough seas a few nights.

I agree about the rocking! Between the rocking, alcohol & drammamine I never slept better! We had to talk about the motion becuase it was making us sick at first & we realized that just becuase you take dramammine doesn't mean that the ship is going to stop moving, all it means is you won't get SICK from it moving! once we realized that we had fun trying not to walk into walls!:teeth:

I used to deploy on carriers also. The ride on the Magic/Wonder is SIGNIFICANTLY smoother. Although the ship is lighter by about 10,000 tons, it has roll stabilizers that the big grey boat with airplanes does not have.

it has roll stabilizers that the big grey boat with airplanes does not have.
Why is that??? I would think that if they had stabilizers they could cut down on the movement of the ship it would be easier to take off and land on that itty bitty runway. Maybe Navy pilots are just nuts!! (NO Disrespect intended to our service men and women!!!)

The Magic might move a lot more on the Pacific, which is far more active than the glassy like Carribean sea.

When I cruised on the two oceans on the same ship, it was very noticable how much more the ship moved on the Pacific all the way up to Los Angeles.
