I am having a hysterectomy and Tummy Tuck in a week. I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences with me. Also, has anyone needed to buy new clothes after a tummy tuck? Or am I just hoping for better results than I should expect?
Thanks!

I have never had a tummy tuck, but I did have a hysterectomy a couple years ago. Sure wish I could have gotten the tummy tuck with it! Just wanted to send some :wizard: your way for a quick recovery.

You are going to be sore, and probably have drains coming out from the incision. You will want to wear loose comfy clothing. Wait until you recoup and then see where you are as far as size. Maybe then a shopping trip will be in order :thumbsup2 .

I am having a hysterectomy on the 22nd. They can do a tummy tuck then too??? Maybe I should inquire. Anyhow I had asked this question the other night. look under other posts by me. Anyhow I think it depends on how you have it done laporoscopy or thru your stomach. The first being a much shorter recovery time. Also go to hyster sister web site they are great.

After I recovered from my tummy tuck my regular clothes were loose.
Mostly I can tell the big difference in dresses, I get to see a smooth stomach rather then a bulge.
I had a good experience and I had the tummy tuck with reduction surgery.
I did have a reaction to the anastesia, and throwing up killed. But after that wore off, I really didn't hurt too much. Getting up and down was slow going for the first week. I did anticipate things to be a lot worste. I did hear horror stories of people who still couldn't stand sraight after three months. It was nothing that bad, I was on vacation in vegas on August 8th and had the surgery on July 18th.
Also you may want to go to tuckthattummy.com, lots of helpful tips.
Oh yea, I can't stress this enough, where your support garment as the Doctor instructs. If you don't then you won't get the very best results.
I wore mine faithfully and I healed quickly.
Good luck and if you want any other info. I would be happy to help.

I don't have any answers, but I do have a couple of questions.

If you have a tummy tuck with a hysterectomy is it covered by insurance? Doest the obgyn do the tummy tuck?

I may be having a hysterectomy within the next few months and I would love a tummy tuck. After 3 c-sections it's not a pretty sight.

Hi! I'm almost 9 weeks post-op from my tummy tuck. I've also had a hysterectomy. Are you having your muscles repaired with the tummy tuck? This will make a big difference in your pain, etc.

When I had my surgery, I was a size 10/12. Now, I'm a size 8/10. My 12's are WAY too big and the 10's are loose. I've just now begun to buy new clothes. Trust me, you're going to want things loose for a while.

The drains are annoying, but do keep you from swelling. After they come out, be prepared for lots and lots of swelling...especially at your belly button and above.

I can say without a doubt that I'd do it all over again. The experience has been wonderful for me and I look sooo much better!

There's a web site you should visit that will be a tremendous help: www.tuckthattummy.com.

Congratulations and good luck!!!

Insurance doesn't cover the tummy tuck. But it does cover the hospital stay because of the hysterectomy. So I "only" pay the plastic surgeon's fee and the anesthesia fee. I think this is a good way to do it if you ever want a tummy tuck because it is cheaper at the same time.
Plastic surgeon consult is usually free. Then they and the gyn coordinate surgery schedule.
I do know of one ob/gyn who would do what I think is called a pannelectomy
with a hysterectomy. He basically cuts off a strip of skin. It is not as involved as tummy tuck.

Sheila, Thanks for that info. When I get home tonight I will check that web site out.

Thanks for all the info. I like the site you reccommended. But what is it with people's signatures? I had to check to make sure I had not ended up on some "dirty" site!
