It was dated April 4th, which was just two weeks ago. Even though things are much calmer now, it was pretty scarey at the time that he wrote this...
Dear Mom, Dad and Everyone,
Today is April 4th and we are somewhere in Iraq. We have been moving further north towards Baghdad about every three days. We are moving up the western side along a main road - doing maintenance so everyone else has an easy way to get supplies to the front lines. We are about 100 miles out of Baghdad and we are supposed to be moving out again later today - another 70 miles north. We really haven't seen much action. Every time we convoy down the road, we see a lot of civilians with white flags in teh air and some of them even give us the thumbs up and wave at us, but we know that we can't trust any of them. It's not very peaceful around here at night - helicopters flying overhead and the sound of artillery in the distance. Most of the fighting has been going on at night, so it makes it that much harder to sleep.
Every day, we hear about more and more casualties and think about their families at home and it makes us enjoy every second we have with each other out here. We are all brothers and we know that we have each other's back. I know with all the prayers and support that we will all make it home safe.
I love you all very much!!
Bobby
