After 3 years, we went for a visit! Updated 5-27 -It's a Wrap

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

I am loving your TR! How have I missed it!?!?!

I have laughed and laughed. Falling asleep at the CoP? the dream meet with Cindy? You have had some good meals!

Was it just totally crowded?

Aly took AWESOME BBB pictures! I have never seen really good BBB pictures. The kids are always smiling so forced...you know what I mean?

But...Uh...now I need to know where Gram is!?!?!?! :scared1:

woohoo! a reader. Thanks Maroo. yes, I do need to finish this. It was the saddest day for me so it is kind of hard.
Yes, it was crowded at times. The crowds kind of came and went. The last day, Saturday was the absolute worst. But it was the only time we could go during the school year, so we dealt with it.

Gram was sitting there, on the sidewalk, in her scooter, watching the bus drive away. I ran up (why I ran I have no idea) and asked "Was that the Epcot bus?" She answered "Yes"
"and why didn't you get on the bus?"
"Because you weren't here.":sad2:
I looked at Scott who said "We'll just catch the next one"

The next one. Twenty minutes later. Then to get Gram on, then to stop at Fort Wilderness and to sit there with no one getting on. :scared:

Finally we arrive to Epcot. John and I run to the entrance. First the bag check, I'm ready but no one in front of me is. Then to the entrance. and then we run to Canada. I mean run. John is 13, into sports and as tall as I am and he had a hard time keeping up with me. We run all the way to the Le Cellier podium....to stand in line. When it is my turn the CM asked if our entire party was there. I said "right around the corner" (and they were, exactly where around the corner I have no idea.) Would you believe she would not check me in until she saw my entire party? What's up with that? Probably because we were 20 mintues past our ADR. Guess I was lucky she didn't say we were cancelled.
When everyone else showed up, I got back in line. I show her my party and she told me to go inside to check in:confused3 I get in another line.....and wait. Finally I get to check in and we happen to find seats inside. I was tired and a little ticked off. One by one parties are called. Each time they come to us first. Nope, we would shake our heads, not us. Now, I have an issue where if I don't eat something when I get hungry, I end up sick, quickly. Gram and Scott both know this but tend to "forget" at times. It's 1:30pm now and I haven't had anything since 8:30, not good. Plus all the running and stress. Each time they called another name the more upset I got. Finally at 1:45 I gave up. I was sick, upset and didn't need to be around my family right now. I left them there and went back to the resort.

Getting back took no time at all. I took some meds, ranted a bit, (okay a lot) and fell asleep. Until the pool party started. That bull horn. How I wanted to separate that CM from his bull horn. So, I got up, washed my face, got dressed and went to the food court for something to eat. Figure I had missed Le Cellier, but still had Biergarten for a late dinner. That would be fun.

On my way back to the bus I called Scott to let him know I was on my way back. Guess what?
Aly wanted to ride the monorail so they were going to do that and then go to Downtown Disney. I was like, what about dinner. "Oh, we had such a big lunch and didn't eat until after 2:00, that we cancelled it." That's right my family cancelled dinner. So, no Thanksgiving dinner for me this year. I kind of wonder now if this was their way at getting back at me for refusing to cook this year.

So, on to Downtown Disney. How bad could it be? It's Thanksgiving Day, people will be like me and more interested in big dinners, than shopping. Right? Wrong!!!!! The place was so packed. Think WalMart Black Friday morning,....double. I have never seen it so crowded. But we did do a bit of shopping. I really wasn't in the mood. We did get some nice ornaments at the Christms Shoppe. I love that place. Then we made our way back to the WL. Took a while for the bus to come and then it was very crowded. Didn't help that everyone leaving had lots of packages.

So, I never got around the countries of Epcot this trip. I really missed them. I had been thinking for quite a while, but this night is when I decided that I was definitly going to find a way to come back by myself. Later Scott did apologize for not going straight to the bus when we were trying to leave. He said he didn't realize it would take so long to get there and thought I was just micro managing.

I only took one picture this whole day and it didn't come out.

aw....

no wonder you got stuck on writing that day... :(

Bless your heart!!!

I am so sorry. That is a crummy Thanksgiving.

I am sorry you didn't get around the world either... :( So, when is your next trip? You still going back in June?

Thanks, I'm over it, kind of.

Yes, we are going in June. 85 days to be exact. Even though I haven't had much response on this trip report, I am going to do another one for that trip. Let's just say, I have some awesome friends who are DVC owners and we have been planning this trip since last summer.

and I am serious about going by myself. There is so much I would like to see and take in that my family isn't interested in. Thanks to one of your post, I have decided on January 2010 for the marathon. I will probably only do the
5K this time, but may try for the 1/2 marathon if I think I can do it before it reaches capacity. I really like the idea of raising money for GKTW. I need to read up more on that.

I have been reading along too! :) I loved your trip report but am sorry that your Thanksgiving Day was a total washout.

I love the funniness of your writing style and look forward to your next report.

BTW.....you never actually mentioned what you did finally get to eat on TG day.
Did you starve or catch something at DTD?

I forgot to mention.
We all went on Everest. Becca loved it even though the photo at the ride showed petrification! :lmao:
She pushed her luck and requested to go on it again, she enjoyed the second time but got headache the poor little Kipper.
She now gets a real kick out of saying she rode Everest twice!!
We also rode Jurassic park River adventure! She loved that until the end where it scared her stupid. We actually bought the photo on that ride because of the look of sheer terror on her face!!! In fact the same look is on Everest, River adventure and test track :):lmao:

OMgosh!! :)

I am quite possibly not going to be going in Sept anymore...which means I am DEFINITELY going in January!!!! :)

I am planning to walk the half! You can totally do it!

I am waiting for the info to come out about the marathon weekend raising money for GKTW packages...the DISunplugged folks are getting that put together!

I enjoyed my solo trip...but it is more fun, I am sure, to actually share the time with someone!

And, you better write a TR!! I have enjoyed this one a lot!!! :)

I think there are probably some lurkers out there!!! Maybe they are just to shy to come out and say hi...

Ah! Mandy! I saw that you had posted over here! :)

Since I am over here and not on the Wish Thread where everyone else will hound you...I just have to say...I do hope that you are able to get Becca (and yourself) in a good place so that you can one day write your TR... :) I would love to see pics of Becca enjoying Disney and GKTW! And I bet she DID look petrified!

I can't imagine how had this has all been on all of you guys. And can't imagine what it is like to look at pictures from such a short time ago... My heart has been going out to you guys...as you know. But I just had to say that...about your TR... :)

Hi Mandy. I figured you were just too busy to be reading. Hope I have provided a bit of entertainment for you. I rode Jurassic Park too. I hate big drops but when you look at the ride it doesn't look that bad, the building really fools you. We were on the front row and you should have seen me holding on. Yet the look on John's face, who was 5 at the time, was total thrills.

We will definitly have to meet if we are both there is January. That would be fun. I do want to try the 1/2, we shall see.
Mandy, I am with Maroo. I can't wait to see and here about your trip. But I am patient. Gotta get that girl home first. She is doing so excellant.

I have been reading along too! :) I loved your trip report but am sorry that your Thanksgiving Day was a total washout.

Not sure how my quotes got messed up like this. Yes, I ate something at the resort food court before I went to DTD. Pizza I think. Thank you so much for stopping by. I will be over both your ways soon, but right now Roo wants a walk and we had better go before it rains again.

Rest assured, I will be doing a Trip Report come hell or high water :) :)

We have yet to send a CD of our pics to MAW so they can develop them for us.
We have loads of pics but not many of the actual rides, weird huh?

But I will be doing it, honest, I have been looking forward to doing it and I just hope that I can remember all that happened as I didnt take any notes at all. :scared1: I will start it just as soon as we are home again and have gotten over this ordeal.
Becca says that when she gets home she is going to sleep for 3 days straight :rotfl: I said that would undo all of her physical therapy and she said "SO....I need to sleep for 3 days and I dont care" :rotfl:

You do have an about to be teenager, don't you. All they want to do it sleep. :upsidedow
Perhaps with no babies around and once she gets over being sick, she will start sleeping better at night.

Do I need to get out some popcorn over here?

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

We miss this TR! :)

Today is our Animal Kingdom day. Thanksgiving is behind us and I am determined that today will be better. :thumbsup2

First thing, up and get breakfast. Today we were just eating at the food court at the WL. A bit crowded but nothing unexpected. It’s small but we always found a table when we went in.

Back in the room, I was gathering everything up, putting things in the stroller and I went to unplug the scooter. Now all week I have had to unplug the scooter because while Gram could reach it to plug in, she couldn’t unplug it. It was already unplugged.
Me – “Hey, you were able to unplug the scooter.”
Gram - “I didn’t unplug the scooter.”:confused3
Me - “Ummmmm, the scooter wasn’t plugged in.”
Gram - “What do you mean? Didn’t you plug it in before you went to bed?”:headache:

You can see where this is going…..right? You got it. The scooter didn’t get plugged in and it’s almost dead. Oh, great. Count to 10. Count to 10 again. Start counting backwards from 100….99…98…97…96…95.

We have an ADR at Tusker House for 11:30, it’s now 7:45. Gram you are just going to have to let the scooter charge for a while and then meet us at AK. I’m sorry, I really, really am. (I didn’t not plug it in on purpose, honest.)
So we leave with Gram with strict instructions as to what time to leave the room to get to the bus stop for AK. She was confident enough with the scooter that I figured she could board the bus by herself. I also turned the scooter around so she would be able to unplug it and get it out of the room by herself. And off we go.

Uneventful ride while I am feeling guilty, but we decided we would ride all of the stuff that she couldn’t first and then we would do all the other stuff after lunch. We had a fun morning.

image639.jpg

John didn't know what he was posing for, sometimes he blindly follows along.
image640.jpg

Expedition Everest, Dinosaur, Kali River Rapids. Aly played in the bone yard. I had told Gram to call me when she got on the bus at WL and I would meet her at the gate of AK. She called earlier than I expected and I went to meet her. (Guess she didn’t want to be late to another lunch.) We had a first seating for lunch and actually had to wait for them to switch out the buffet from breakfast to lunch. Found a place to plug in the scooter while we ate.
I liked the Tusker House, the food was good, but something about the room we were in was bothering me. I was starting to get a headache. We were right by a window that looked out onto the “street” and there was a band out there playing. The sound of the drums was vibrating in the room. That and the sun kept shining in at just the wrong angle to hit me in the eyes. I finally had to go outside while everyone else finished eating. I was done and just waiting on them anyway. I felt much better once I got outside.

After lunch, we went to the safari. We like the safari. I try to find all of the barricades they use to keep the animals contained. Scott says I ruin it doing that. I don’t say anything about what I find, but he knows what I am looking for. It all started last time we were there. Some one asked the guide what kind of deer or whatever we were passing bye. He called them cheetah snacks. Everyone was real puzzled until around the next bend were cheetahs. Realization dawned and one little girl got upset that the cheetah could eat the deer. I realized that there is no way Disney would allow that to happen and started looking for what kept them all separated.

Then we made our way to Camp Mickey-Minnie. We had never been there before. We saw the Lion King and I really enjoyed it. We sat down front since Gram has a hard time climbing stairs. We ended up on the end of the second row. Aly is never happy in a new place that is dark. She likes to be able to see. There was one monkey that was determined to make her smile. It was towards the end of the show before he succeeded. He seemed really happy that she finally smiled and he came over and gave her a high five.

IMG_0380.jpg

After the show we saw Donald who really liked John shirt.
IMG_0383.jpg

image650.jpg

I finally got a character picture. One of the CMs insisted on using my camera to take some of just me. That was nice of her.
IMG_0385.jpg

We wandered around until time for the parade. Everyone must have decided to see the parade all at the same time. After we picked our spot everyone wanted a snack. I can’t remember what Scott wanted, but I couldn’t find it near us. So John and I ran, found one place that had a loooong line and waited. When we finally made our way back, we were stuck by the parade and no way to cross the street. So we waited the parade out. Of course Scott wanted to know what took us so long. “Hello, there are thousands of people here.” We saw a great street show of three guys who do a balancing act. Then it was time to leave AK and make our way to AKL and Boma’s for dinner.

AKL seems nice, but it is dark. Boma’s seemed a bit dark also, but we really enjoyed it. We had a great server, the best one all week. I made a point of seeking out a manager before we left to let her know. That server got the rest of the tip that was left over from the Brown Derby tip. He was that good. Okay, now if you have been to Boma’s you know it is a buffet. How hard is it to serve at a buffet? He was always stopping by, but not in a hovering way. He took notice of everything we did. Saw when drinks were ¾ gone, knew which plates to take, chatted a bit, but not too much, suggested things to try. He helped make the entire meal, very pleasant and I really appreciated that.

After dinner we went to Hollywood Studios. This was the first night of the Osbourne Lights and we love Christmas lights. It was easy getting there and getting in. I was glad we were on a Disney bus. The lines of cars were amazing. The driver said it was always like that the first weekend the lights were on. It was just over an hour before the park closed, so I wonder if some of them ever got in. There were a lot of people there to see the lights. So many that areas were barricaded and you could only go in one way and out another. We ended up standing at the “V” where the two streets intersect and had a great view of the dancing lights. It wasn’t crowded at all back there. By the time we made it to the end of the second street, Aly was out.
IMG_0389.jpg

I stayed with Aly by the hat while Scott and John rode TOT a couple more times. We were also trying to let the crowds thin at the bus lines before we went out. It did take a while to get back to the WL, but it was relatively early, so we weren’t in any hurry.

Time to pack up since we were leaving the next day.:sad1:

Woo Hoo!!!! An update!

I love your Safari trick...I am going to have to entertain myself next time with that game...If I ever go on that ride again. :thumbsup2

John holding Simba is so funny!!! Does he know you just posted that picture for all of your DIS friends to see? :lmao:

I love the Osborne lights!!! I used to go see them as a child when they were on the Osborne house in Little Rock. I can't wait to see them this year! :)

Great update!!! :)

I will hold off on the popcorn...for now. ;)

you should, you just weren't looking at it in the right light. The cheetahs deserve a second chance. :lmao:

Yes, brave the crowds. I really wish I had gotten a picture of the crowds. I was just so in awe. of the lights and crowds.

Great update!!! :)

Time to get this thing finished.

This is our last day at Disney, a bitter sweet day. We had breakfast at the hotel and then packed the truck. For our last day, we always end as we began, at Magic Kingdom.
The bus ride over.

Aren't we a happy bunch?

We decided to ride all our favorites, but the park was sooooo crowded. We did have the special fast passes we had received from the DVC presentation. Guess what? I rode Space Mountain for the first time. Why oh why did I wait so long. It was fun!:woohoo:

The people mover.
IMG_0398.jpg

Then time for a snack.
IMG_0400.jpg

Visit a couple characters.

IMG_0406.jpg

Rode a few more rides and then decided to have lunch. We ended up at Cosmic Ray's. I have never been at Disney when it was so crowded that you had to stand in line, to get in line to order food. Here is a tip. Go in the side door that faces Space Mountain. There was absolutely no one at the farthest cashier to the left. Walked right up and had my food in two minutes.

You rode Space Mountain for the first time and loved it!

Now that is some Disney magic for ya, isn't it! :)

So, how was the DVC presentation? :confused3

I am so sad that your TR is coming to an end...that's not all, is it?? We had no power yesterday evening, so I was not able to get all caught up until today!

Thanks for finishing for us to read! :) I have enjoyed your TR and look forward to MORE!!!! :)
