We finally arrived yesterday at 1600 and into DCA 1 hour later. Temp was 78 degree's and this place is packed. Did screamin(30), GRR (40), grabed a snack at WWS and thru some of the shops and into DLR. Did HM(20) IJ(1hr), and JC(15). That is all we could muster. People were staking out spots for F prior to 1800 according to the security person I spoke with.

Headed to GK for breakfast in a few minutes. I have been here in August many times and yesterday afternoon was the worst. The view from GCH is spectatular, fireworks were very good, just seemed out of sync.

We will see what the crowds are like today. Everyone have a great day because we sure will.

Wish I was there today instead of first day of school. Let us know if today is better. I think with good FP collection, it will be. :thumbsup2

I hope you have better luck today - you should being a Monday I would think.

We were there yesterday as well and OMG you are so right it was SO CROWDED! We were there early and so we had a whole bunch of FP to use, so we didn't have the line issues, but it was like wall-to-wall. It was so much more crowded than it was on Saturday. Like night and day.

this place is packed.

That's right! Yesterday was the first day the So Cal APs were able to get back! And today is the first day for So Cal Select. Maybe most of them will be in school today!!! ;) Either way, I'm sure you'll have a great time and I'd rather be at DLR with crowds than not there at all!

we decided to stop over saturday evening and stay the night. Saturday evening was crowded but not as bad as sunday! It was crazy yesterday. And all guests needed hand stamps...even those with APs or you were not going to be allowed back into the park. The ticket lady told me they were expecting to hit capacity yesterday. We only stayed until 4 pm and decided to head home. Hope today isn't as bad!

I was just thinking about how it's the first days back with the SoCal APs so I was wondering if it was as crowded as I thought it would be. Sounds like it is. We wanted to go yesterday but decided it would probably be a mad house so we stayed home instead.

Jack, I'm sure you'll have a great time despite the crowds! I'm hoping the crowds go away by next week when we're going for a 2 day visit.

It's the last few weeks of summer, it'll be crowded. Early in the day is the best time to get lots done. Then just "go with the crowds" as the day goes on.

It's only middle August. I don't know about the rest of the country, but So Cal schools are still on vacation (unless they are year-round, of course).

Really?? Our year round started 2 weeks ago and today was my DD13s first day of 8th grade....of course we are Nor Cal but I thought our schedules were similar.

Hope you're having a ball Jack!! :)

The local elementary school starts on Sept. 9th and my HS alma mater (not in the same area I now live, but also in So Cal) starts Sept. 2nd.

I have several friends who are teachers throughout various So Cal districts and they are all still enjoying their summer vacations.

The schools in my city start today. DS is in a special ed preschool through the district and it doesn't start until after labor day but the "regular" schools have started. It does seem early though.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll be there tomorrow and will stay until Sunday. Let me know how bad the crowds are today so I can mentally prepare myself for tomorrow, lol.

Anyway, hope you're having an awesome time despite the heavy crowds :)

Jack you made it !!!!!! Thank you for the heads up, let us know how the rest of the week goes, I come in 2 days and Im thrilled to be getting on that plane! I just know your having a great time :)

How long did the drive take you? We were there in late May/early June and the wait times were similar then. Have a great day!!!!!

It continues to be very busy. Clouds cleared and it is warming. GRR is 60/soarin is 80 and we are back in the room for a break. We have 7 sets of FP's so tonight shoud be better.

The drive took us 18 hours not to count the hour from LA to Anaheim, traffic was down to 5 mph.

Oy! :scared1:

We're driving down tomorrow. Sounds like it's busy, but still enjoyable if you plan it out right. I'll be curious to see how the crowds are later in the week.

Enjoy your vacation!
