Aft vs midship

I am having a really hard time picking a stateroom for our next cruise and am debating aft vs midship. Not interested in forward for a number of reasons. On this last cruise we liked ease of access to the drink station, dining room, cabanas, bars, and kids clubs from 6648 which was an aft room tucked almost in a corner a little forward down the hall from the elevator. We felt vibrations at times and while it was tolerable, I would not want to be more aft than that. Problem is, on the itinerary and category we want, the available rooms are right by elevators, above the kids club, or below pool deck and I'm scared of noise. Or they are all the way aft and I don't think that would work either.
What are your thoughts/experiences on midship vs aft rooms in terms of convenience getting to where you want to be? Or on noise level for rooms above the kids club/right near elevator banks? Are the hall areas more busy and loud near the elevator since it's midship? Would we have to wait long times for the elevator due to volume of people going through that area?

We loved Aft, we were past the aft elevators on the Dream and loved it. Deck 9, so convienant to drink stations and buffet and pools.

We just stayed midship on the dream and it was awesome. Hardly any walking to get anywhere. It was so centrally located.

We have routinely booked cabins (4 times - 3 different ships) as close to the elevators as possible. We find it convenient to be that close to the elevators and have never had issues with noise.

Good luck with your planning.

I would pick midship near elevators, personally. Since the rooms are sort of tucked back, I wouldn't think the elevator noise would be that much. We were 3 or 4 rooms up from midship elevators on the last cruise and it was sooooooo convenient. I've booked another midship room near the elevators for our next trip.

Have you checked out the room reviews or some of the rooms you're looking at? People usually say if there is noise.

We stayed in 6666 on Dream, which was pretty close to the elevators, and never heard a thing. We loved it. SO close to the kid's club and we are not ones to mind a bit of extra walking. The only issue with the room is the expression on peoples' faces when they hear your room number.

I think it depends partly on which ship you are on. On the classic ships, we like aft because it is close to the drink station and pools and almost all of the restaurants. Like the others, we have had no problems with rooms near the elevators. In fact, we prefer rooms near the elevator when available. Much quicker to get up and down and we rarely hear any noise. Plus I like that lots of people get to see my magnets. :)

From what I have heard, you do not want to be under the pool deck because of the noise from the chairs sliding. I am not positive that's true but I would never chance it because I am way too sensitive to noise.

On a dream class ship, I would guess it's better to be a little more mid-ship but I would be more worried about what is above me than being too far aft or too close to the elevator. Did I mention I am really sensitive to noise??? ;) Good luck!

I am looking forward to out Aft Veranda...should be really relaxing and little wind!
We are booked on Dream Jan 29, Deck 10

Thanks everyone! Some of the rooms have no reviews or only reviews of that magic/wonder number. I am very noise sensitive when I'm trying to fall asleep so I knew staying below the pool deck was out. I am still hesitant about the ones on deck 6 above kids club, I love the price and location otherwise of what is available but am scared for the possible noise. Thanks for easing my mind about rooms near the elevators at least!

Have you tried a white noise app for your phone? We never travel without our white noise now.

If on the 2 newer ships my concern with being next to the elevator is if the Mid Ship detective agency is there. I have experienced gangs of unsupervised children playing the game and being a bit less than courteous with noise levels.

Just curious....what is wrong with forward part of the ship? We are going on our first cruise (4 nights) on Feb 29th. I have room 8508 reserved on the Dream.

Forward is rough for me in terms of motion. I stayed forward once several years ago and got so sick I vomited multiple times. I've felt motion aft and mid, but never actually got sick. Even when we are forward for the shows in the theater, I notice the motion much more than I do in other parts of the ship.
We also don't do much at the front of the ship. I prefer to have a room closer to where I'll be going most often and for me that is restaurants, family pool, kids club, atrium which are mid and aft.
That being said, my husband didn't get sick when we stayed in a forward room and my sister actually prefers forward when she cruises to be close to the spa so she can use the showers there, so it's not bad for everyone.

Some people can feel more motion there. Of course you can't be in two places at once so you don't know how you would feel at that moment in another part of the ship.

We've had two concierge rooms on dream, and those are forward, and they've been fine. Family had a midship room on same sailing when we were concierge and their room felt no different than ours when I was there.

Another cruise we had a forward room and I was sick one morning, BUT that was the morning we left the Inside Passage for "real" ocean AND I was newly pregnant. So.....

I have heard that deck 1 is the quietest deck. People that have stayed there love it and the quiet halls.

Just got back from the Dream, also cabin 6666. The only noise I heard was some loud kids in the corridor once in a while. It was a great cabin. And I chose that cabin because of the number. :D

Awesome. :)

Hopefully we'll never try to cruise at the same time or we'll have to arm wrestle each other about the room!
