Aft Verandah rooms are they bad

Now, let's talk vibration... One of the thing that can cause vibration is the # of engine running. The Wish would rarely have to run at true full speed for an extended period of time, so vibration would be rarely felt at the back... unless docking. When we were on the Treasure, we had to have a few days/nights with ALL engine running at full capacity as we were going against very a very strong current. Vibrations were not Disney Fantasy bad or Disney Wonder bad (in similar situations) but were definitely noticeable. Not enough to impact sleep and overall room comfort. As soon as the ship reverted to running on 3 engines or less, vibrations were no longer an issue.
The Magic, Wonder, Dream and Fantasy only have 2 shafts and props. The Wish, Treasure and Destiny have 2 Azipods and props (no shafts).

The vibrations when docking are from the side thrusters.

Ok, thanks for the info... but how does this relate to constant vibration at the back when the Treasure (not unlike the Fantasy, but not to the same extent) does experience constant vibration when going at top speed while at sea?

As previously posted, the Treasure is unlike the Fantasy as far as propulsion system. All the newest ships haves switched over to an Azipod propulsion system.

We have, by choice, stayed aft on the Magic, Dream, Fantasy and Wish. Our TA encouraged us to book the aft cabins for the veranda size. We loved it. On the Wish we barely felt any ocean movement. The Fantasy definitely has most vibration. We cruised the Magic to Canada and I would take my afternoon nap on the veranda under the afghan. We just cruised in November on Fantasy mid-ships and totally missed being aft. We missed the vibration, even though the cruise was plenty impacted by bad weather so you could definitely feel the ocean. We're leaving in 12 days on the Fantasy and we're booked aft on the 10th level. I view the walk to and from the cabin as my exercise for the day. LOL

If the Treasure has vibration, then something is obviously out of balance with one or both props. We never had it on the Wish or at least any that was above normal for a ship.

We recently spent two weeks on the Treasure and there is definitely more aft vibration than on the Wish. I attribute this to the fact that on a chunk of the itineraries they are sailing at or close to top speed, which doesn’t happen on the Wish. It’s not as bad as on the Fantasy, though.

I never said they were the same and understand they have different propulsion system. The point is that even with the differences, at certain speeds, the back of the ship remains subject to vibrations... but yes, the difference in propulsion system could help

Fair enough... but how often does the Wish has to operate at 22kts, going against very strong current and winds... This is a bit like discussing the Dream and the Fantasy... now, we know there has been an issue with the system on the Fantasy, but vibrations were not as often reported on the Dream... because the Dream didn't have to operate at top speeds as often as the Fantasy. Now that the Dream is doing some longer itineraries... guess what... it happens too. Don't get me wrong, and as stated before, I have no regrets with AFT rooms, vibrations or not and overall, it is more subtle on the Treasure. I would book the exact same room again.

Just booked the 7 night Western for 2026 in a family Aft room. Usually mid ship but I liked what I read here so giving it a go.
Also doing Alaska the week before to celebrate my 50th 👴🏼

I agree. The pros out weighed the cons for me. So we will give it a shot.

We’re booked into 8188 this August on the Dream, and after reading so much back and forth about these rooms we too felt the pro’s outweigh the cons. Looking forward to escaping the crowds for our own private pirate party and the views of Castaway Cay.

We've never done an aft and are booked into 6698 on the Wish later this year. I'm prepared for the long walk back to our room and excited to experience an extended verandah with the aft view.

We originally had 6696 booked but had to shift dates. One day!

Late to the party, but here are my two pennies worth:

We had an aft corner cabin on deck 8 on the Fantasy in '22. It was a guaranteed verandah.

Yes, there were some vibrations when the ship was traveling at higher speeds, but for me that was easy to tune out.

Despite any negatives, the GINORMOUS wrap-around verandah more than made up for any negatives. It felt like having your own ship to yourself and I spent hours out there enjoying the views.

Thank you! I appreciate the info. I am excited for it. I think the pros out weigh the cons !
