African Safari Grand Gathering Event

Knowing that AK usually closes around 5pm, can someone who's done the GG Safari tell me what time it starts? I read that it's followed by dinner at Tusker served sit-down; so maybe dinner is after 5pm?

We are thinking of another trip this summer with all our kids...so there would be 8 of us, I gather this is the requirment for a "gathering". We'd be very interested in any answers to this also!

Must be someone out there with some info.

My MIL tried to have us do this for our upcoming trip. We were all really excited about it, but is was pretty tough to find out info. After many calls, she found out the following;

The Grand Gatherings Safari is only done on Sundays and Thursdays at 3:30. There is no other time or day to do it.

For us that was a major bummer as we are doing the 7 day land and sea package sold by Disney themselves, arriving on Sunday and leaving Thurs by noon. So, hopefully this will help your planning as we are out of luck.

Our grand gathering safari dinner is next Sunday and we have to meet at Flights of Wonder Caravan Stage at 4:00PM.
