I want to purchase an aerobed for our upcoming trip to Universal. I went online thinking this would be easy but the the choices are numerous. Can anyone shed some light on what they have and how you like them. Does anyone have one of the raised beds?

I just got back from my Universal trip, and we used one. I ordered mine online. It was called Intex. It is a raised (kind of) twin bed with a plug-in inflater and deflater. It has a flocked top. It was around 40$. When they say raised it is NOT as high as a regular bed, but is I think 19 inches high. For hotels at Universal if you are staying at RPR or HRH and not in a deluxe room , you need to just get a twin, anything bigger wouldnt fit. If you are in a deluxe room or are staying at PBH a bigger one might work. Have a great trip! BTW, housekeeping brought linens and made up the bed for us every day, which was very nice.

I've had a twin Aerobed for about 7 years and it still works great. I've never tried the raised one, but I've been tempted simply because I don't like lying on the floor.

We have just a plain old queen size one. The raised ones would be good for people/guests who are older and can't climb on and off the floor.

We bought our Aerobed on ebay. We got the queen size for about $50 NEW about 3 years ago.

We have used it for guests, and even taken it on the plane with us when we go back to New England for the holidays. The dog and cats climb all over it and we've never had a problem.

Thanks everyone. I am curious about the raised ones. How stable are they etc.? We have several camping air mattresses and the one thing DD does not like is that she is close to the floor. I thought the raised one would make her feel more like she had a bed of her own without spending $100 on a rollaway for 4 nights. At least the aerobed, while being a little pricey, we will have for many more trips.

We have a full size Aerobed & have been happy with it. One of the things I like is that it's very quick to inflate & deflate---maybe 30 seconds to a minute for each? Let's put it this way: it's fast & simple enough for my half-asleep DH to pull it out & set it up at 3am when I've had to kick him out of the bedroom for snoring. :rotfl: :rotfl:

We had another air mattress briefly but you had to connect the pump to the mattress & it took some time to inflate. Plus it never quite rolled up as compactly after the first use. I liked how Aerobed has it set up where all you do is plug it in & go.

I have used the raised aero beds (twin size). They are very comfortable and very sturdy. I got mine from Linen n' Things with one of their 20 percent off coupons.

We also have a raised (normal bed height)twin Aero i ordered off QVC a few years back. Kids have taken it many places and it is very comfie for guests here. An excellent investment we think! :thumbsup2

I bought TWO twin size Aerobeds from QVC in 2002 and LOVE them! We use them all the time. I love the way they inflate and so easy to deflate, roll up and store away...not to mention just how comfy they really are as well. I bought the Aerobed mattress protector from Bed Bath and Beyond and sheet sets and after using, I wash everything and store right back in the actual bag. This way whenever someone needs one or two, I am not scrambling around in my linen closet for mattress protector and sheets as they are right inside the neat carrying case w/the Aerobed. :thumbsup2

I've had a queen size aerobed from QVC for like 13 yrs I think. It's been used everywhere & been borrowed so much, that it finally had a leak in it we couldn't find. We would go to bed with the mattress fully inflated & wake up with my butt touching the floor.

Looked online, but decided to get a replacement at Linen & Things(LNT) a few months ago because they were offering a $30 LNT gift card as rebate. Got the same kind as before, but they have made some improvements to it.

Very happy.

I like aerobed. We have aerobed, and something similar - it's the one that is as high as a bed.

They are nice because you can make them as firm, or not, as you wish.

I am so glad to find this thread. :)

We have a full bed in my DD's room that we used as a guest room for years but now that DD is here and getting bigger we need to get that bed out of the room and we don't have another room to put it in. We thought about getting a sleeper sofa but we have not found one we liked and we don't really want to get new LR furniture just because we would like a place to have guests sleep.

We then thought about getting Aerobeds. We need one of the raised ones because my Mom has trouble with her knees and getting up and down from a low position. One big question I have is how much weight can they hold? My Mom is probably 300+ and my Dad is over 200. If I get a queen size I would need one that would hold that much weight (500+). I thought about getting two twins but I was also concerned about the weight limits. Anyone have any experiences with this?

DH slept on a raised Aerobed during the Christmas Holidays. He's 220 pounds and found it to be sturdy and very confortable. :teeth: Beyond that weight, I really don't know. Seems the box mentioned something about the weight limit but can't remember what it was. Suppose you could phone a local store that carries them and ask a clerk to check if weight limit is posted on outside of box. :confused3

According to their website weight limits are: twin- 450 lbs, full - 650 lbs, and queen - 750 lbs.
