I have read alot of people on DIS bring aerobeds to the room. Can you do this for a room like at the Dolphin where they admit 5 (by fire code standards) but charge you $25 a night for a rollaway? Would it be possible to bring an aerobed to avoid the $25 fee?

I am not thinking about taking it to a room that only allows 4, just the ones that have a max of 5 but are charged for an extra bed. Thanks

As far as I know, they charge extra $ per adult, not kids. Check if the cot costs $25, first. Why take more than you need?

We took an air mattress on at least one of our trips. We have 4 in our hotel room. My DD was a restless sleeper. She got the air mattress. I have the feeling that I was avoiding a charge for a cot, but it's been several years ago. I would call Disney and ask.

The dolphin does (unfortunately) charge the fee for a rollaway..By the time you add the $10 resort fee, $8 parking fee, & the $25 rollaway fee to the "discounted" rate you end up with the same rate as an AP for the beach club!!!

Anyone else have an opinion? Thanks

I have read that the Dolphin and Swan are charging $10 resort fee and a $8 parking fee. My family will probably never stay at these resorts, but out of curiosity are these fees paid once over the stay or are they per day?

Per day for both. The resort fee covers their workout facilities and unlimited broadband access in the room, among other amenities. For the life of me I don't understand why everyone makes a big deal about it. They could just raise their prices by $10 and get rid of the fee and no one would be the wiser and no one would complain.

The parking is only $7, I believe, for what it's worth, and that is an outrage.

Definitely $25 extra for the cot...not the extra person. We had 5 in a Dolphin room and my son slept on the air mattress each night. No problem at all and there was plenty of room between the bed and the window for it.

Sammy, so you got to avoid the $25 fee? Cool.

just got back from the Dolphin and we used a twin aerobed the whole stay so as to avoid renting a cot for $25 a night. We only have four in our party but we like separate beds.

Can I assume that all of you aerobed types are drivers? You aren't lugging those onto planes, are you?

We have a twin Coleman inflatable mattress with a separate pump, and we FLY, with carry-on luggage only. It fits into our rolling carry-on. My son and daughter can't sleep together (7-yr-old son is a blanket HOG).

It takes up about 1/4 of the carry-on - not too bad.

Yep...my understanding was that the $25 was if you rented the cot...not for the 5th person in the room. DH and I had one bed; two DDs in the other; DS on the air mattress.

No...we fly. The air mattress we have is a twin-sized Eddie Bauer (from Target) that has a built-in pump. Turn it one way and it inflates, turn it the other and it deflates. Runs on 4 "D" batteries. When using the pump to deflate completely, it folds up to about the size of two-pair of folded (adult-sized) jeans and fits in its own carry bag (although it's a little heavier than the jeans would be...but not too much). We pack it right in the checked luggage.
