Are these any better than the ones you can buy at Wal-mart, Target? I seem to only get about two uses from the ones I have before they start to get a leak. The reviews that I have read for aerobeds doesn't seem to be any better than the cheap ones you buy at the discount store. Just wanted opinions from anyone that has an aerobed before I buy one . Thanks a bunch!

I bought one in September and my son who was home visiting said it was very comfortable. My other son, while home from college said its the best sleep he's had for a while it was so comfy. One of these days I'm going to check it out myself. LOL

As far as leaks, no problems thus far.

I do think they last a lot longer that target walmart ones. DH used one as his regular bed for about a year and half. He had to patch it once for a slow leak but it was fine after that. We still use it for guests at out apt

We bought the queen size raised aerobed (not quite as high as a regular bed but very close) :thumbsup2 about 18 months ago and have used it many times for guests. Heck, I even stick my in-laws on it and they love it!! :teeth:

I had one from WM but ended up buying the real Aerobed instead. It works very easily.

Us, too. In fact, 8yo DD's bed started squeaking and she is VERY particular about being able to sleep "right". It couldn't be fixed (we tried everything), so we just pulled it out and set up the AeroBed for her. Heaven...she's actually asleep before 1am now!

to the Op.. we recieved the orginal areobed as a gift, this christmas it will be 6 years! we now have3 kids all who have slept,JUMPED, and played on and is in perfect condition! also very comfortable blows up in seconds is great!! I can't speak on the comfort or quality of the others, I know Areobeds can be pricey but from my experience definitly worth it!!

I've had my Aerobed for years also (probably close to 8-10) and it's been great. Use it for guests and my son slept on it every night for awhile because he said it was more comfortable than his 'real' bed. My sister had one of the beds from Wal-mart and it was always deflating in the middle of the night. She gave up and I just bring my Aerobed when we come visit for her guests to use.

We had a cheap air mattress we bought at WalMart and before the night is through you are sleeping on the floor. :rotfl: Don't bother with a cheap one or you'll be

Our first queen size aerobed lasted 10 yrs. We used it most summer weekends while visiting my parents Cape house, holidays while visiting relatives, extra relatives visiting here that I ran out of beds for, and my SIL used it for 2 wks straight when moving into her apt & didn't have a bed yet.

It finally sprung a leak that I just couldn't find. So we decided to replace it this past summer.

I also got rid of our guest bed since I needed the guest room for other uses. It was a very expensive mattress set my parents had given us when they moved. Well, I found out the bed my mother was currently using was 30 yrs old...and uncomfortable. I gave her the mattress set back to help relieve her pain. Now, if you sleep at our house, you sleep on the Aerobed too. My parents & in-laws alike (all in their 70's).

I have a metal rod in my back & have back problems. I find the aerobed very comfortable. More so than some of the choices of guest beds at relatives houses. I opt to bring my bed & sleep on the floor so I can get a good nights sleep.

We've even brought it to a wedding weekend this summer at a bed & breakfast. Family was renting one of the cottages so we could all stay together. Rather than having to share a bedroom with others, DH & I just crashed on the living room floor in our aerobed.

The new one I got rolls up much smaller than our old one. :thumbsup2 And the pump motor is now kind of indented into the bed, rather than sticking out. So it takes less room on the floor.

My DFIL also bought one to replace the mattress on his guestbed. He put it on top of the box spring. He figured if he needed to go somewhere, he would just take it with him too.

BTW, my niece & nephews have certainly given it the "jump" test over the years. lol

I have 2 regualr twin aerobeds!!! We have had our 1st for over ten years and the piece that is used for opening/closing to let the air out or keep in had broke. I didn't know that I could replace it so we bought another bed.

I called up the company and explained what broke and within a week they had sent us the replacement free of charge and all we had to do was to take off the old stopper and pop on the new one.

We take our bed on every vacation for that extra sleeping space and many people have borrowed them. I would definately suggest to get the original and not a store brand

I love my Aerobed! I had a Target version that only lasted a month, then I broke down and got the Aerobed and I've had it for 2 years now with no problems.

I got the version with memory foam on top and it is VERY comfortable.

I think it's definitely worth spending more on the Aerobed, it's something you will have for a long time and you need the quality and durability.

I'll agree with others. The cheap air mattresses aren't worth it. I've had a few and after about two uses, they all leak. And I was really, really careful with them.

I've had a raised twin aerobed for about 3 years now. It gets used at least once every weekend. I've only had one problem with it. The valve had a slow leak. (Probably because DBF who is a big guy (hockey goalie) plops on it all the time.) We could have replaced the valve but it wasn't worth the effort. Called up aerobed and they sent us a new one!! It is made from a really durable material unlike most others. The aerobeds are more comfortable than a pull out sofa. I actually get a decent nights sleep on one!

Aerobed gives their products something like a year or two years warrenty. If anything happens to it and you have the receipt they will replace the part or the whole bed for you. With me, they sent me an entire new bed...mattress padding, bed skirt, patches and carry case. I mean the whole thing. They've kept my business that's for sure.

We LOVE our aerobed!!! I bought it in October of 2000 when my now 6 yr old DD was only 2 months old..... DH gets up at 3:00 am for work and I wanted him to be able to get some sleep... I'd been sleeping on the couch with our baby in the bassinet next to me (you know how it is with all the newborn wakings!!!) but that got uncomfortable...saw an infomercial one night for the Aerobed and ordered it at 1:30am and Fed-exed it... :rotfl: I used it for a month or so at that time and since then, we've used it on numerous trips to the Cape when we stay @ my parents' camper, for plenty of sleepovers for my nieces to sleep on, it's the "sick" bed too-when either of our girls is running a temp, we'll blow it up in the living room and I'll sleep with them on it so as to not disturb the rest of the family, etc., etc... I find that it is comfortable, blows up instantaneously, deflates quickly, and is well worth the $$$ IMO :thumbsup2 Don't settle for a cheap knock-off because you'll be sorely disappointed:Pinkbounc

:thumbsup2

I didnt read all the previous responses, but I did want to chime in really quickly...

I dont think you could ever go wrong with an aerobed, they are really great. while i dont personally own one, but parents do. Infact they have several different ones. They have a place up north on the lake and they come in handy when we all gather there.

Anyways, it has outlasted the others and is super confortable. everyone fights over who gets to sleep on the aerobed. it has withstood mulitiple sleepers, heavy set sleepers and little tykes using it as a trampoline. And it has never lost air or deflated.

If you have the funds, as they aren't cheap, I would greatly recommend them.

Thanks for all the responses. Looks like I will be getting an aerobed. Now if only I could decide what model to buy. Raised, regular....nothing is ever simple is it!
