[ADVISORY] WDW - MagicBand-Only Testing Begins at Disney's Pop Century Resort

I linked my tickets for fast pass plus and was still able to use the ticket to pull fast pass - with the ticket.... I'm staying at pop.

Depends on when you checked in. This just started in the past few days.

Somebody posted the list of resrorts that MB testing was rolled out to in order, I would ASSume, it might follow that list. I could be wrong, of course. ;)

POP wasn't the first resort to use the MagicBands. AKL and Contemporary were. POP was added in the second round with Yacht Club.

They said they were able to pull a FP with the actual ticket. If you still have a separate ticket, you can still do it.

If your ticket only exists on the MagicBand, then you need the FP card.

So what...... did you want everyone upset all at once????? ;)

Yes, then at least it will be a even playing field.
The problem isn't how they rolled out the test. When you have to structure the test so the testers don't feel cheated, the problem is the PRODUCT
I still have to believe that this is and will be a good product. There are some really good benifits to it. The FP thing is just taking too much time to get rolled out. At this point they should be able to add off site guests and remove FB- to make the playing field even for everyone and let the system even out the lines. Just my opinion.

Yeah was not the first to start the first testing. Thinking maybe if they are going to make it an unfair playing field, that they will do all the Value resorts first. (lowest paying guests get it taking to them first.)

Yes, many people who don't stay at a value resort feel that way. And most people who stay at a value resort feel that if someone staying onsite should not be disadvantaged over those staying offsite.

Disney needs to either back off entirely or just pull the bandaid off. This in-between nonsense isn't good for anyone.

and for other forms of Guest Service Recovery (mostly due to ticketing issues at the main entrance showing the theme park admission was not used today.)

This is what scares me the most, getting caught up in a Kafka-like web of ticket problems. From the reports out there it has happened to some guests and they are spending large amounts of time trying to resolve issues. I hope I'm one of the "no problem" people when we go over Thanksgiving.

Totally agree. Just get it over with or scrap the idea. But giving them to some guests who complain loudly enough, only testing this at one resort, not being consistent, is causing more confusion and anger. Just get it over with Disney.

What is the point of putting this restriction on Pop guests and then giving them another way to double dip? Why even add the restriction to start with.

Agreed. They should just put all resorts on FP+ only and go ahead in the rollout phase instead of backward. This does not bode well for Thanksgiving/Christmas trips. Disney is going to have a mess with the high crowds.

Thank goodness I'm going the very first week of December as to avoid what is sure to be a clusterF the closer it gets to Christmas.

Probably in the hope that a majority won't know they can, and will "go with the flow-ohhh-oh-ohhh-ohhh..." :)

That's probably it but all I see is more problems for both visitors and CM's. :crazy2:

I wouldn't be there during Christmas week for anything. Angry people from Pop that don't know about the other pass, clueless offsite visitors, clueless onsite visitors, harassed CM's... It doesn't bode well.

I have been trying to keep up on all the posts on this thread so I hope I am not duplicating a question. This question isn't POP related, but I think those of you who know best have been following this thread.

To pull legacy fastpasses you can try your KTTW card (if issued one) or your paper ticket (from say UT). If you truly have a paper ticket and not the new RFID park tickets from UT do you need to have those updated to RFID to pull legacy FPs? I know they don't need to be transferred over to enter the park because you use MBs to enter, but is it needed to pull FPs?

This is utterly ridiculous to be starting this so close to the holiday time! Why don't they have resort guests choose whether they will do FP+ or FP- and only do one? I'm sorry, but it is ridiculous if during Christmas week they make resort guests (paying the inflated holiday rates) get fewer FP than non-site guests!!! The other issue is that you can't always get the rides you WANT with FP+--especially with the new tiered system. To allow this to happen this early, where there are still bugs in the program and no way to get more than 3FP+ a day (thinking of the speculation that once this fully rolls out you might be able to get more the day you are in the parks based on availability) is outrageous to do to on-site guests during the most crowded weeks of the year.

I sort of see them worrying about the impact of double dipping during this time frame, but then give guests as option.

If I wanted to try to send my input on this, which email address would be best? I know it's probably futile, but it is crazy to think they may do this during Christmas week!

No, the regular FP kiosks are the same as they always were. However, you DO need the ticket linked to the magicband if you use the magicband to enter the park. Otherwise the system won't know the ticket is "active" in the park.

I wouldn't be too upset about offsite guests getting a ton of fastpasses. They have trouble getting fastpasses for the big headliners right now so I can't imagine that anything would be left during Christmas week. Of course they could always grab Stitch fastpasses. :badpc:

If they go at RD on a non EM day, they will certainly be able to ride more than on site guests! And with the tiering at Epcot and HS it will definitely be so. Plus, they can choose which ones they most want. The only place that you really get locked out of FP provided you go at RD is HS for TSM.

That is exactly why they should give on-site guests a choice of FP+ or FP- during the peek times if they want to level the field. You don't test something like this during Christmas week!

I think that offsite guests will also have trouble getting Soarin' or Test Track during busy periods. Keep in mind that we are only seeing what goes on during very quiet days right now. We have no idea how bad it will get during the holidays.

Personally I think that all of this is pretty unfair for everyone and that's not good.
