Advise on car hire please?

Hi guys,


Just looking for some advice on car rental! We fly out next Saturday and we ordered a new PIN number for my husbands credit card 3weeks ago and it still hasn't arrived. Even after repeated calls to the bank?! It needs to be husbands credit card we take as he will be the driver however when we were their 2 years ago we didn't need a PIN number, we are worried that we are running out of time and won't be able to get it sorted in time?

Does anyone know if we need to know the PIN number for the car rental agreement or not? We are only using his credit card for the car hire so won't need it for anything else?

Sorry it's so long winded but we are in full on panic mode now lol xx

I have rented a car a few times and never needed to use the pin code, in fact I don't think I have ever needed to enter a pin code anywhere in the US in the many times I have visited.

I think you will be fine.

Same here, just got back, not asked once to enter a pin for my card.

They don't use chip and pin in the US on credit cards yet.

I have had to enter a pin on my US Debit card when I have swiped it at Publix but never any of UK cards

Except Walmart on Turkey Lake Rd, they have been trialling it for about a year now. Last time I went in it wouldn't accept my Post Office card so I tried to use my Halifax Clarity but forgot about them wanting PIN, I sill haven't changed it to a memorable number so couldn't use it, ended up paying cash
