Final Thoughts.
"Less Advil and more enthusiasm!"
Let's wrap this sucker up, shall we? I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Mine was very nice
ate too much, curled up on the couch with a cat in my lap and took a post-turkey nap, spent the evening in my jammies watching terrible Christmas movies on Lifetime. This year my relatives expressed thanks for family and friends, Gods blessings, good health, beloved pets, celebrating the holidays for the 91st time
and chicks with big hooters! Ah, theres nothing like the joy of a heartfelt family gathering, is there?
Anyway, here are a few final thoughts and some pictures that didnt make it into the trip report but were too good not to share.
Tena and I have vacationed together many times before but a trip with just the two of us together 24/7 for a week
. Id say it had been 22 or 23 years. It was great to spend so much time together but had the potential for disaster. I mean, what if shed developed some weird and annoying habits that I wasnt aware of? But we didnt get on each others nerves once! At least, Tena didnt get on my nerves. And if I got on hers, she hid it pretty well. ;-) Wed always gone the commando route at Disney before, but this time we took a very laid back approach. We had a few things on our must do list but otherwise our goal was just to have fun. What got done, got done. What didnt get done, gave us an excuse to go back again. The result was a really lovely, relaxing vacation. So ladies, ditch your husbands for a week (if Tenas husband is any indication, theyll miss you like crazy and appreciate you more when you get home) and vacation with your girlfriends. Eat too much, dont sleep enough, laugh until you pee! You wont regret it, I promise!
My sister Susan will be turning 50 in 2015 and were planning to go back to Disney to celebrate. Based on what worked and what didnt this time around, we have a few goals for our next trip:
Less Advil and more enthusiasm! Part of the reason for our slower, more laid back approach to Disney is
were old. And Pooh-sized. And woefully out of shape. And our joints ache. The aqua zumba helped a lot but still, our stamina was kind of pathetic. So were determined to be in better shape for our next trip. Tenas goal is to weigh something that starts with a 1! Mine is less specific
I just want to see less of me and more of the background in our pictures! Its a slow process but weve got three years and Im confident we can do it if we set our minds to it. Life begins at 50, right?
Cargo shorts! On our first Disney vacation, Tena and I dragged so much crap to the parks with us that we couldve used a Sherpa to carry it all. Weve lightened the load over the years but still take more than we need. We usually take a backpack that we share (and Tena and Adam have done the same thing) but this time around it just plain got on our nerves. Halfway through the trip we switched to a small cross-over bag that Tena had and that was much better. But we still didnt use half the stuff we had with us and going through bag check was a pain. So next time our plan is to take only what we absolutely cant live without that will fit in our pockets!
December! The low crowd levels of September were great but the heat
yikes. We are chubby, menopausal women who love our air-conditioning. Im not saying Id never go to Disney in September again, but I definitely prefer slightly cooler weather. So our tentative plan for 2015 is early December. Weve gone in December before and loved it. The crowds are manageable, the weathers nice and of course, Disney at Christmas is amazing!
Speaking of Christmas, its right around the corner and I am sooooo not ready. Im on vacation for six glorious days and I have a frenzy of cleaning, decorating and gift making planned. And on Thursday, Susan and Tena and I are traveling to Harrisburg, PA to spend the day at a massive craft show
cant wait! So enough of me jabbering on and on. Lets get to the pictures!
Meerkats! You gotta love em!
Monkey butt!
Spoonbills! Okay, I have no idea what these birds are actually called but come on
if they arent spoonbills, they should be! All I know is they were adorable and absolutely everywhere at AK.
Happy Birthday to us! Im telling you, those birthday buttons were worth their weight in gold!
Gosh, I wish these monorails werent so crowded!
Speaking of monorails, heres the only picture I managed to get of the Avengers monorail:
Words of wisdom:
I think we just missed seeing this band play. Nothing exciting going on in the picture but we had to take it because Tenas hubby is a professional tubist. Is tubist a word? Anyway, Adam plays the tuba so this picture is for him!
Okay, confession time. I dont like Stitch. Ive never actually seen the movie Lilo & Stich, but Ive seen enough of Stitch to know that he gets on my nerves. But this picture is adorable!
Stumbled across these performers at AK. See the blonde girl behind the lead dancer? She was getting her African groove on big time and dancing very enthusiastically. She was shaking her butt so hard I thought she was going to dislocate a hip at one point! I love people who arent afraid to make a spectacle of themselves and just let loose and have fun. She was totally adorable!
Hugs from Tig!
So thats pretty much it
my first trip report! I hope you had as much fun reading it as I had writing it. Have a wonderful holiday season and a big thank you to my small group of fans who took the time to comment
I loved hearing from you!
