Right now on our scheduled last day we have a park ticket for the day. Our flight leaves SNA at 4:20pm. I was hoping southwest would have a 6pm of later choice, but they didn't. I doubt they will add any flights. I think with a 420 flight we would need to be in an Uber on our way there by 1-130. So it's a true half day..

It doesn't cost any extra to move our flight to the next morning. But changing our hotel turns out would be a major issue because I booked our Package directly with Disney and got a really good price. (Cheaper than booking hotel direct) but now if I want to add the extra day, they don't honor that package price and instead I would have to book a new package. The same extract package now at the same hotel and tickets with just one night added would be $700 more. Yeah that's not happening.

It's the Anaheim hotel. I could book just that one extra night at the hotel for $200.

We have 4 other full park days (no hopper) plus a day for the OBB (not using a park ticket this day). Planning 2 full days at Disneyland, 2 at DCA, and OBB. So this last half day would be at Disneyland.

Is this worth the hassle and extra cost? The plus with flying home that night was we have the next day off work too.. so we would have a full day at home to unpack and all that before going back to reality.

If nothing else is an issue I'd book the hotel for the single extra night, ask if it's possible to stay in the same room for both "stays" and spend the full day at the parks. Then see about a morning flight for the next day so there's still a little time to wind down before getting back in the groove of life.

Where are you flying to? Maybe there's a later flight out of LGB. It's roughly the same distance from DLR as SNA and super easy to navigate.

SNA is so close, I'd see no reason to stay there the night before.

After 4 days in the parks PLUS OBB, I'd just use the last half-day for fun. You can get up, pack up, have the hotel hold your luggage, and rope drop. Ride a few of your favorites. Get in last minute souvenir shopping. Have a late breakfast or early lunch somewhere. Mosey and enjoy. Generally by day four I'm pretty done anyway (that might be an unpopular opinion around here! :-))

I agree with this! After 4 days + OBB, I think that final half day will be enough. Get in a few rides and any last minute shopping you need to do. That rest day at home before going back to work sounds pretty nice!

We have done the half day in the park several times and to be honest, it isn’t worth it. I would rather do a full day as my last day. I find myself constantly looking at the time. Want to ride the Matterhorn, opps! the line is too long. Then we traipse across the park for a ride with a short wait time. I find myself not really enjoying it. I would rather spend the $200 and stay overnight. But that is just me. I do better with designated travel days and so does my DD. Another idea is instead of a half day in the parks, have a character breakfast at Goofy’s Kitchen or Storytellers. It is still a travel day but the leaving isn’t as hard.

Soo.. I remain conflicted lol.

However- The anahiem hotel- where we are staying the rest of the trip- has upped the rate to where it would be $265 for that extra night. That rate does not please me. That's a lot of churros or heck a lightsaber! Or even that $$ could do a character meal! And honestly we love the Anaheim hotel- have stayed there before, but it's not a $265 a night hotel. Really glad I snagged that deal early on.

The Hilton by SNA was similar cost of $250 for the night.

Found a hotel - country inn and suites by radisson SNA airport..with really good reviews, - free breakfast, and free airport shuttle. $138 for the night. Was thinking on our last day when we take our mid day break we could Uber over there and get checked in.

And then I'm debating just sticking to our original plan.. I might thank myself for that come the next day when we are home and have time to chill/ rest before diving back into reality.

We have stayed at the Hyatt House near SNA one night when our flight was canceled and we had a full last day in the park instead of leaving that day (I was not sad!). Price is around $200 but might be less/more depending on when you are going. They have a free breakfast and free shuttle to SNA, so factor that into your pricing when comparing to another hotel that might require transportation in the morning to SNA. If you are a healthcare worker, Hyatt has some pretty awesome discounts through June 2022.

Thanks everyone. After reading the posts here, talking with Hubby, talking with a good Disney friend, and thinking hard about my kiddos and their tolerance level, I have decided to keep the original plan. We will make the most of that last half day. Maybe for what we would have spent on the extra hotel night, we will end with brunch at Plaza inn.

I would 100% do a character meal that day. We did that On our WDW trip in January and it was the perfect relaxed way to end the trip. So much so that I'm hoping to do that with Storytellers in July.
