dbf and I have a Disney Trip planned for Aug 26th-31st. We have decided to make the 14 hour drive from Cincinnati, due to visiting family after our Disney trip. it was cheaper to rent a car and pay for gas, then to both fly and have to end up renting a car anyways.

Our room starts on Sunday, but we are driving straight through and probably won't arrive until 2am. Which means I will have to rent the room for Saturday also :( We are staying at All Star Sports, so a saturday rate will be about 112 dollars. But we will have a full day in the park Sunday!

IS it worth it to book at All star Sports, or should we stay outside of the park. DBF says it would probably be cheaper, but the ease of just checking into our room on Early Sunday morning would be nice.. What do you think?

Also if we are on the dining plan and book Saturday, does that mean we will technically have an extra day of the dining plan since we won't even be at disney on Saturday?

Has anyone ever had an issue with checking into a disney resort in the middle of the night? :sad2:

We drive (7 hours) and seem to always arrive after midnight, DD's are easier at night and I do not like taking time off on Friday so we leave right after I get off work. There is no issue checking in that late. You could save about $50 staying off site and since it is only you 2(no kids) you will have no problem getting an early start on saturday. You also have to keep in mind that your room may not be ready until 3pm or later on saturday even if you do get there early. For us with kids it is a lot easier checking in real late and not worry about getting off to an early start from another hotel. You will have an extra day of dining also, but that just means you can have 3 QS meals on 2 of your days:)

The dining plan is based on the nights you are there - not the days. So if you are there for say 4 nights you would have 4 TS meals, 4 CS meals, and 4 snacks per person. We did the same drive many years ago and we actually checked into a hotel outside Disney for a few hours sleep and then went to check-in early and get our tickets and headed to the park.

If it were just DW and I in that situation, I'd stay at a less expensive off-site hotel that first night. We'd pack a separate small bag with just the necessities for that one night and only bring that into the room so we wouldn't have to take any time unpacking/moving all our stuff until we got our room at WDW. Just my 2 cents.

I would say don't stay at pop due to all the added cost of the dining unless you plan to use it. If it were me, I'd do one of the DTD hotels. Then I could just store junk in my car for the most part.
You could also catch a bus from DTD or that hotel to one of the parks and come back for your car later. This way you won't miss out on park time.
