hi I need some help here....my oldest is having a "civil ceremony" 100's of miles away and on the spur of the moment....I can't make the trip...is there something besides my blessing I should send to make it a special day for them??? I bought tickets to WDW for them before they sprung this on me......I doubt anyone else in the family is thinking of sending anything

Male or female child? That could make a difference as to what you could send. For instance, if you have a daughter, maybe there is a small family heirloom you could send for her to wear during the ceremony.

If it is a son, maybe you could send a nice tie tack or cufflinks or something, assuming he isn't renting a tux and all the frills.

A hand written heart felt note of congratulations and wishing them happiness from "Mom" is always nice.

If it is a more formal dress ceremony, ask them if there is anything special they'd like.

Anything would be appreciated. Maybe find a nice restaurant in the area, call, speak to the manager, explain the situation and then have them go to dinner on your tab (places are usually pretty good about this).

But honestly, your unconditional love is probably the best thing you could ever offer your child.
