While i sit here with the rest of you on pins and needles for a January general code, I'm wondering what I should do. A little background: originally we were staying offiste with a rental. Then we booked 2 adjoining rooms at POP. Now I'm thinking that we'd looove to stay at Contemporary but it is booked :( So decided Poly would be nice. It is just so $$ without a discount.

If I sign up for CAA I know I can get a discount on the room, but then have to transfer over my reservation as we have a package with DDP. And then cancel the rental car and I'll still be about $500 more to stay at POLY.

Or should I just sit here and be happy with what we have and then wait for a code.... and try and be patient? :confused3

Well, I asked earlier about booking a trip then adding a discount & no one answered!!!!! I don't want to book a trip-then cancel & try to re-book w/ the discount...Personally, I'd keep what you have..You have 45 days to cancel (I think) & if a great deals comes about for you then you can choose!!!!!

swald91 - this question is answered at least once every 3 days...

you book a standard or AAA package.

IFF (if and only if) a code comes out, be it a personal pin code, a disney visa code or a generic one, you will have to call CRO or AAA and have that code applied.

The ONLY time you have to cancel and rebook is if you:

* move from a room to/from a package
* move from AAA to CRO

Well, here is a couple of questions for you? How frequently do you visit WDW? Is this your big vacation, or just a small get away. How long are you staying, what is your budget, how flexible are you? Codes for Jan haven't come out, and it is anyone's guess at this point. I think you should book the vacation you really want, and IF you get it at a discount rate, then great, but if not you have what you want. If what you want and what you are willing to pay doesn't match up (welcome to my world:rotfl:) then choose the best vacation on your budget. If the codes come out and you can upgrade, it will be all the sweeter. I think we all thought by now we would be in code city - I am rmow esigning myself to no discount, but we have the room we want, discount or not. Hope this is helpful. Good luck and here is some pixie dust for you:wizard: :cheer2:!

Thanks singinglizzie.... we might not make it to WDW for years..... normally we vacation in Mexico or somewhere else tropical. This year we're in Florida for 3 weeks, 1 of them in Orlando ... who knows when we'll make it back.

My husband is of the same mind as you - book the room you 'really' want.... I keep trying to save us money.... if the codes would just come out already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :banana: Cuz right now I just keep second guessing our decisions.

You HAVE to book and budget as if there would be no 'specials'. No free dining, no codes. Just rack rate.

Once you are confortable with that, book your vacation, and airfare.

Anything that comes after (pin codes, regular codes, free dining, etc) would be icing on the cake.

That's the only way to do it...

I totally agree - book what you are comfortable spending - if nothing comes out, you are where you can afford - if something does come out - you can try to switch or save money where you are already.
