Advice wanted for renting points

I have never rented our points before and I'm a little nervous about it. I have read all the rules and information but I still feel a little uncertain. Is it better to put in my own thread or to answer someone else's thread for reservation wanted.

P.S. I am also new to using discussion boards so I'm not even sure I am using the correct terminology.

Why not do both? You can submit your own request (be sure to use "Reservation Wanted" as the title) but you can also respond to offers posted by DVC Members to make reservations for others.

If possible, start looking as far ahead as possible to increase your chances of finding availability.
