I know this forum has always been full of questions and advice about getting specific rooms/views, etc. so, having just returned from my trip, I thought I'd chime in and offer perhaps a less common reflection on that topic. When i made my OKW Grand Villa ressie at the 11 month window (we are DVC owners there), I requested NONSMOKING first and then requested NEAR HOSPITALITY HOUSe and LAKE VIEW (at CMs suggestion when I told her I would like a water view but definitely did NOT want a pool view (too much noise!)). Anyway, to make a long story a bit shorter, we were assigned Building 49 which does have an off to the side water view (thru trees) but is absolutely as far away from the HH as you could possibly be at OKW! However, since the CM really couldn't find any place else for us even if we waited til late in the day, i decided we could just make the best of it. Ended up being a great location and we worked the relatively long hike to the HH area into an advantage when we used it as an excuse to eat more dessert!!!! So, relax, fellow control freaks and just know that sometimes things work out even better than if we had gotten what we thought we wanted!

I too found this out. Last May I was spending two nights at POP, renting DVC points for a BWV studio for five nights, then back to POP for a final two nights. At POP I had requested 50's or 70's buildings top floor facing the lake. I got third floor 50's building on the corner right next to the bowling pin stairwell, only it was on the opposite corner from where I wanted. It was as close as you could get to the main building (on the opposite end from the lake). It was wonderful. I could step right outside my room and see both the 60's Hippy Dippy pool and the 50's bowling pin pool, but was far enough away that I heard no pool noise. Because I was on the very end and most people with strollers have to go on down to the elevators, I never heard anyone even walk past my door. Using the stairs, I was only about 2 minutes from Classic Hall. I was closer than most people in the preferred 60's building. I loved the location so much that when I checked out I made a trip down to the check in counter to see if I could request that same area when I returned five nights later. Would you believe I got the exact same room?

Our only request at BWV was top floor, close to elevators, preferred view. When I checked in I asked if I had gotten what we requested and told the CM that close to the elevators was my #1 priority. He said no, but let him see what he could do. He suddenly smiled and said he had the perfect room, but it wouldn't be ready until later. Imagine my surprise when I walked into the room that night and found I had been upgraded to a top floor, BW view (just over the arch between Wyland Galleries and the health club) and only three doors down from the elevators. It had a daybed in it, as well as the sleeper couch and bed. From my balcony I could gaze across the lake to the BC and also see Spaceship Earth. Being so far up and facing that back courtyard area it was also very quiet. I was definitely sprinkled with Pixie dust that trip, both at POP (x2) and at BWV! I'm so glad I didn't get what I asked for.
