Advice: Spending Day in DTD/DLR Hotels

Hello, we will be near Anaheim in September, and don’t want to spend the money on one-day tickets, . We plan on eating/shopping in DTD and at the DLR hotels. Any advice on parking, things not to miss, would be appreciated. It will be two adults, no children.

Salt & Straw for great ice cream. See if you can get a reservation at Trader Sam's at the Disneyland Hotel. Probably have to do a walk up.
